# 🎫 How to Create Unique QR Bookings with Appointment Bookings App

Want a faster, paperless way to check customers in at the door? With **QR code tickets**, every booking gets its own unique scannable code — perfect for in-person classes, events, workshops, or any service where you meet customers on-site.

When QR tickets are enabled, the confirmation email includes a scannable code that links to the booking details. Your team can scan it with any phone camera or QR reader to instantly confirm who's booked in ✅

Each QR code is **unique to that booking**, so it can't be reused or shared between customers.

---

# **⚠️ Before You Begin**

Make sure you have:

* ✅ The **Hoppy Appointments** app installed
* ✅ At least one service created
* ✅ The service set to an **In person** or **At Location** meeting location
* ✅ Customer email notifications enabled

> ℹ️ QR tickets are only available for in-person or at-location services. They aren't available for video calls, phone calls, or custom locations.

---

# **🛠️ Step 1 — Open Your Service**

1. In your Shopify admin, open the **Hoppy Appointments** app.
2. Go to **Services** and click the service you want to edit.
3. Open the **General** tab.

---

# **📍 Step 2 — Choose In Person or At Location**

1. Scroll down to the **Meeting location** card.
2. Select **In person** or **At Location** from the dropdown.
3. Enter the address where the appointment will take place.

> 💡 Not sure how to set up the meeting location? See [How to Configure Meeting Locations for Appointment Bookings?](https://www.markdowntogoogledocs.com/HOW_TO_CONFIGURE_MEETING_LOCATIONS_FOR_APPOINTMENT_BOOKINGS.md) for a full walkthrough.

---

# **🎫 Step 3 — Enable Send Ticket QR Code**

Once **In person** or **At Location** is selected, a new option appears:

1. Check the box labeled **Send Ticket QR Code**.

2. The app will now generate a unique QR code for every new booking made for this service.

> ℹ️ The QR code is created at the time of booking and stays tied to that booking. Rescheduling or updating the booking keeps the same code.

---

# **📧 Step 4 — Add the QR Code to Your Email Template**

The QR code only appears in emails if your confirmation template includes the right variable.

1. Go to **Settings → Email Settings**.

2. Open the **Customer booking confirmation** template (or the relevant confirmation email).

3. Click where you want the QR image to appear.

4. Add the variable: **`[Ticket QR Code]`**

5. You'll see the QR code block appear in the live preview.

> 💡 You can place the QR code anywhere in the email body. Most merchants add it near the booking summary or location details so it's easy to find at check-in.

---

# **💾 Step 5 — Save Everything**

1. Save your **service** changes.
2. Save your **email template** changes.
3. Wait for the confirmation messages to appear ✅

---

# **🧪 Step 6 — Test the QR Booking**

1. Make a test booking for the service on your storefront (or create a manual booking in the admin).
2. Check the confirmation email — it should include the QR code ticket.
3. Scan the QR code with any phone camera or QR reader.
4. It will open a verification page showing the booking details and status.

> ⚠️ The verification page is **read-only**. It shows whether the booking is confirmed, cancelled, or rescheduled, but it does not change the booking status. Mark customers as checked in or update the status directly from your **Bookings** dashboard if needed.

---

# **📋 What the Verification Page Shows**

When the QR code is scanned, the verification page displays:

* Booking status (e.g., Confirmed, Cancelled, Rescheduled)
* Customer name and contact details
* Service name
* Date and time of the appointment
* Meeting location / address

This gives your on-site staff everything they need to verify the booking quickly.

---

# **⚠️ Good to Know**

* **Unique per booking** — every QR code is tied to a specific booking ID, so two customers can't use the same code.
* **Email only** — QR tickets appear in confirmation, reschedule, and update emails. They do not appear on the storefront success page, in the admin dashboard, or in calendar invites.
* **Requires both toggles** — the service must have **Send Ticket QR Code** enabled *and* the email template must include `[Ticket QR Code]`.
* **Read-only scan result** — scanning only verifies details. Use the Bookings dashboard to update status or check customers in.
* **Works for all booking types** — regular, multiday, and bundle bookings can all include a QR ticket if the service supports it.

---

# **🎉 Final Result**

That's it\! Your service now sends unique QR code tickets for every booking:

* ✅ **QR tickets enabled** on your in-person or at-location service
* ✅ **Confirmation emails include a scannable QR code**
* ✅ **Each booking gets a unique code** tied to its booking ID
* ✅ **On-site staff can scan and verify bookings instantly**

From now on, customers can simply show their QR code at the door — no printed lists or manual lookup needed 🚀
