# 🔎 How to Find Upsell ID

Every upsell you create in **Hoppy Upsell & Cross Sell** gets its own unique **Upsell ID** — a unique identifier that connects a specific upsell setup to a specific spot on your storefront 🔗

You’ll usually need this ID when you want to:

* 🧩 Place an upsell widget manually using the **App Block** in your theme editor
* 💻 Add the widget through a **Custom Liquid** section or custom theme code
* 🛟 Share the exact upsell with our support team when asking for help

This guide shows you the 3 easiest ways to find and copy your Upsell ID — it only takes a few seconds ⏱️

---

# **✅ Before You Begin**

Make sure:

* The upsell you need the ID for has already been **created and saved** at least once
* You know which upsell you’re looking for (the internal name helps a lot here 😉)

⚠️ A brand-new upsell only receives its Upsell ID **after the first save**. If you haven’t saved yet, you won’t see any ID — save the setup first and the ID will appear automatically.

---

# **📋 Method 1 — Copy It from the Dashboard (Fastest)**

This is the quickest way to grab the ID without opening the upsell.

→ Open the **Hoppy Upsell & Cross Sell** app

You’ll land on the **Dashboard**, where all your upsells are listed with their name, page type, and status.

Then:

1. Find the upsell you need in the list
2. Click the **⋯ (actions menu)** icon on the right side of that row
3. Select **Copy Upsell ID**

→ You’ll see a **“Copied to clipboard”** confirmation at the top of the screen ✅

The ID is now on your clipboard, ready to paste anywhere you need it.

💡 From the same menu you can also **Edit** or **Delete** the upsell — handy when you’re managing multiple campaigns.

---

# **✏️ Method 2 — Find It on the Setup Page**

You can also see the ID directly while editing an upsell.

1. From the **Dashboard**, click the upsell name to open its setup page
2. Look right below the upsell name at the top of the page

You’ll see:

→ **Upsell ID:** followed by the unique ID and a small **clipboard icon** 📋

Click the clipboard icon to copy it instantly — the same **“Copied to clipboard”** message will confirm it.

💡 The ID also appears in your browser’s address bar while editing. The URL looks like:

`/app/existing/<upsell-id>`

So everything after `/app/existing/` is your Upsell ID.

---

# **📍 Method 3 — From the Placement Tab (Custom Position)**

If your upsell uses a **Custom position** placement, the app shows you the ID — and even a ready-made code snippet — right inside the setup.

1. Open the upsell from the **Dashboard**
2. Go to the **Placement** tab
3. Set the **Display On (Include)** placement to **Custom position**

Once the upsell is saved, you’ll see:

* **Upsell ID** → with a copy icon next to it
* **Upsell code snippet** → a small code block you can paste directly into your theme:

\<div class="upsell-cross-sell-block" id=\<upsell-id\>\>\</div\>

ℹ️ If you just created the upsell, this area shows **“Save to see Upsell ID and code snippet.”** Simply click **Save** and both will appear.

---

# **🧩 What to Do with the Upsell ID**

Once you’ve copied it, here’s where the ID is typically used:

ℹ️ Whichever option you choose, the **Upsell Cross-Sell Slider** app embed must be enabled in your theme (**Themes → Edit theme → App Embeds → Upsell Cross-Sell Slider → ON → Save**). The block and snippet only place the widget’s container — without the app embed, the widget script never loads and nothing will appear.

## **Option A — Add the App Block in the Theme Editor**

1. Go to **Shopify Admin → Online Store → Themes → Edit theme**
2. Add the **Upsell Cross-Sell Block** app block to the section where you want the widget
3. Paste your **Upsell ID** into the block’s **Upsell ID** setting
4. Click **Save**

⚠️ If the block is added without an Upsell ID, the storefront will show a “Please configure the Upsell ID to use App Block.” message instead of your widget — so make sure to paste the ID.

## **Option B — Use the Code Snippet (Custom Liquid)**

Paste the **Upsell code snippet** from the Placement tab into:

* A **Custom Liquid** section/block in the theme editor, or
* Your theme code, if you or your developer prefer placing it manually

## **Option C — Share It with Support**

When contacting our support team about a specific upsell, include the Upsell ID in your message. It lets us find your exact setup immediately and helps you get a faster, more accurate answer ⚡

# **📌 Important Notes**

* 🔑 Each upsell has its **own unique ID** — duplicating an upsell creates a new ID, so always copy the ID from the exact upsell you want to display
* 💾 The ID only exists **after the first save** of an upsell
* ✏️ The ID never changes, even if you rename the upsell, edit its products, or unpublish and republish it
* 🙈 Customers never see the Upsell ID — it’s used only behind the scenes to connect the widget to your setup

---

# **🎉 Final Result**

That’s it\! You now know how to:

* ✅ Copy the Upsell ID from the Dashboard with one click
* ✅ Find it on the setup page (and in the URL)
* ✅ Grab both the ID and the code snippet from the Placement tab
* ✅ Use it in the theme editor’s App Block or in a Custom Liquid section
