# How to Place Trust Badges & Icons in Checkout

Displaying Trust Badges and Icons on the checkout page is a powerful way to build customer confidence during the final purchase stage.

Trust-focused messaging inside checkout can help reassure visitors about:

* Secure payments  
* Safe checkout  
* Free shipping  
* Easy returns  
* Delivery guarantees

This can help reduce hesitation and improve checkout completion rates.

# **⚠️ Important Requirement**

Due to Shopify’s platform restrictions, checkout customization using apps is only available for:

## **🛍️ Shopify Plus Merchants**

If your store is not on Shopify Plus, checkout placement customization will not be available.

## **✅ Step 1: Open Hoppy Trust Badges**

1️⃣ Go to: **Shopify Admin → Apps → Hoppy Trust Badges**

2️⃣ Click: **Create new badge**

## **✅ Step 2: Select Checkout Placement**

During the initial setup:

→ Choose:

### **Checkout Page**

This opens the dedicated checkout placement editor.

## **✅ Step 3: Configure Your Block Content**

Inside the **Content** tab, choose how your Trust Badges or Icons should appear.

### **📌 Available Badge Types**

* Single Banner  
* Icon Block  
* Payment Icons  
* Social & Brand Icons

Each badge type provides different storefront layouts depending on the information you want to display.

## **📝 Configure Internal Block Name**

Inside the **Icon/Badge Block Name** field:

→ Add an internal reference name for easier management inside your admin dashboard.

⚠️ This name is only visible to store admins and does not appear on the storefront.

## **✍️ Configure Promotional Text**

You can optionally customize the messaging displayed alongside the Trust Badges.

### **Title**

Add the primary trust message.

### **Example Titles**

* Free Shipping  
* Secure Checkout  
* Safe Payments  
* Easy Returns

### **Subheading**

Add a supporting message below the title.

### **Example Subheadings**

* Delivered to your doorstep  
* 100% secure payments  
* Trusted by thousands of customers

## **🎨 Choose or Upload Icons**

You can customize the icons displayed inside the checkout block.

### **Available Options**

* Upload custom icons  
* Use icons from the built-in Icon Library  
* Replace icons anytime

💡 Using recognizable payment or trust icons can make the checkout experience feel safer and more trustworthy.

## **💬 Add Tooltip (Optional)**

Tooltips allow you to provide additional information without cluttering the checkout layout.

### **Available Trigger Types**

* On Hover  
* On Click

This is useful for explaining:

* Security guarantees

* Payment protection information

## **✅ Step 4: Customize Design & Layout**

Once the content setup is complete:

→ Click **Continue to Design**

Inside the **Design** tab, you can customize:

* Colors  
* Typography  
* Icon sizes  
* Spacing  
* Borders  
* Layout styling

## **🖥️ Desktop & Mobile Preview**

Use the preview toggles on the right side of the editor to verify how the Trust Badges appear across:

* Desktop devices  
* Mobile devices

💡 Always verify mobile spacing carefully since checkout layouts are often more compact on smaller screens.

## **✅ Step 5: Save & Publish the Setup**

Once your checkout Trust Badge setup is ready:

1. Click **Save**  
2. Click **Publish**

⚠️ Important:

Only one badge setup can currently be published for Checkout Placement at a time.

## **✅ Step 6: Open Shopify Checkout Editor**

After publishing:

→ Go to: **Online Store → Themes → Edit Theme**

This opens the Shopify Theme Editor.

## **✅ Step 7: Switch to Checkout Page**

Inside the Theme Editor:

→ Change the preview page from **Home Page** to:

### **Checkout Page**

This opens the checkout customization interface.

## **✅ Step 8: Add the Hoppy Trust Badges Block**

Inside the Checkout editor sidebar:

→ Locate the Checkout sections such as:

* Cart link  
* Contact information  
* Shipping section

Then:

→ Click **Add Block**  
→ Select:

### **Hoppy Trust Badges**

The block will now appear inside the checkout preview.

## **✅ Step 9: Position the Block**

Drag and drop the Hoppy Trust Badges block into your preferred checkout location.

### **Common Placement Areas**

* Below contact information  
* Below shipping methods  
* Near payment information  
* Near order summary sections

💡 Positioning trust messaging close to payment sections often improves reassurance.

## **✅ Step 10: Save Checkout Placement**

Once the placement looks correct:

→ Click **Save** in the Shopify Theme Editor

This pushes the Trust Badges live on your checkout page.

## **💡 Quick Troubleshooting Tip**

If the Trust Badges do not appear in checkout:

Verify the following:

* The store is using Shopify Plus  
* The badge setup is published  
* The Hoppy Trust Badges block was added inside Checkout Editor  
* The Theme Editor changes were saved

⚠️ Checkout customization is not supported on non-Shopify Plus plans.
