# 🎁 How to setup Bundle (Combo Product)

Want to sell a combo of different products together with a sweet discount? 🛍️

That's exactly what the **Bundle (Combo Product)** offer in **Hoppy Bundles** is built for.

With a Bundle, you can group up to **3 different products** into a single combo offer — like *T-Shirt \+ Trousers \+ Muffler* — and reward customers with a discount (or even a free gift 🎁) when they grab the whole set.

Customers see a clean bundle widget right on the product page, and with one click of a button, all the products get added to the cart together with the discount applied automatically ✨

This guide walks you through the entire setup, step by step, so your first Bundle goes live without a hitch ⚙️

# **📋 Before You Begin**

Before creating your Bundle, make sure of the following:

* ✅ The products you want to bundle already exist in your Shopify store and are **active on the Online Store sales channel**  
* ✅ You know which discount (if any) you want to offer on the combo  
* ✅ The **Hoppy Bundles app embed** is enabled in your theme (covered in the next step)

ℹ️ A Bundle needs **at least 2 products** and supports **up to 3 products** per combo.

# **✅ Initial Step — Enable the App Embed**

For the Bundle widget to appear on your storefront, the app embed must be enabled inside your Shopify theme.

Go to:

**Shopify Admin → Sales Channels → Online Store → Themes → Customize → App Embeds**

Then:

* Find the **Hoppy Bundles** app embed  
* Toggle it ON  
* Click **Save**

⚠️ Without the app embed enabled, your Bundle will stay invisible on the storefront — even after publishing.

# **⚙️ Step 1 — Create a New Bundle Offer**

Open the **Hoppy Bundles** app from your Shopify Admin.

Then:

→ Click **Create new offer** (top right) to open the offer type picker.

→ Find the **Bundle** card — it's tagged **Combo Product** and described as *"Sell combo of different products together with a discount"*.

→ Click **Create a Bundle**.

The Bundle setup page will open automatically 🎉

# **🧭 Step 2 — Get Familiar with the Setup Page**

The setup page is divided into two main areas:

* **Left side** → Your settings, organized into 3 tabs:  
  * **General** → Products, discount, gift, and widget behavior ⚙️  
  * **Design** → Fonts, colors, and styling 🎨  
  * **Targeting & Placement** → Where and to whom the widget shows 📍  
* **Right side** → A **live preview** of your Bundle widget on desktop and mobile, which updates as you configure 👀

Whenever you make a change, a **Save bar** appears at the bottom of the screen — your Bundle stays a **Draft** until you publish it.

💡 Tweak settings while watching the preview. What you see there is what your customers will see.

# **📝 Step 3 — Name Your Offer & Bundle**

You'll first land inside the **General** tab, inside the **General** card.

## **🏷️ Offer Name**

This name is **only visible to you** — customers never see it.

Use any recognizable name such as:

* Winter Combo Bundle  
* T-Shirt \+ Cap Deal  
* Starter Kit Bundle

💡 Good internal naming makes it much easier to identify offers later, especially when you run multiple bundles.

## **🧾 Bundle Title**

This is the heading customers see at the top of the bundle widget on your storefront.

### **Example**

* "Bundle & Save 🎁"  
* "Complete the Look"  
* "Get the Full Set"

⚠️ **Bundle Title is required** — the offer cannot be saved without it.

# **📦 Step 4 — Choose Your Bundle Recommendation Type**

This dropdown controls **how the products inside your bundle are picked**.

There are 2 options:

## **🖐️ Manual Selection**

You pick the exact products (and variants) that make up the combo yourself.

Click **Select Products** to open your Shopify product list and choose up to **3 products**.

Once selected, each product appears as a block where you can:

* 🔢 Set the **quantity** of that product inside the bundle  
* ✏️ **Rename** the product — click the edit icon to give it a custom display name (e.g. *"Premium Cotton Tee"* instead of the raw product title)  
* ❌ **Remove** the product from the bundle

ℹ️ If a product has multiple variants and you select more than one, each variant is added as its own line in the bundle.

### **🏷️ Show Modified Product Name**

Enable this checkbox if you want the widget to display your **custom product names** instead of the original Shopify titles.

⚠️ **Important limits for Manual bundles:**

* At least **2 products** are required — a combo of one isn't a combo 😉  
* A maximum of **3 products** is allowed per bundle  
* Only **one published bundle** is allowed per unique set of products. If you try to publish a bundle with the same products as an already published one, you'll see an error and need to change the products or unpublish the older bundle first.

## **🤖 AI Recommended**

Instead of a fixed combo, the widget automatically recommends products to each customer.

When you select **AI Recommended**, three extra fields appear:

### **🔢 Number of AI Recommended Products**

How many products the AI should suggest inside the widget.

* Minimum: **1**  
* Maximum: **10**

### **🎯 AI Target Type**

Decides **where** the AI bundle widget should appear:

* **Specific Products** → The widget shows on the product pages you choose  
* **Collections** → The widget shows on product pages belonging to the collections you choose

### **📦 Target Products / Collections**

Click **Select Products** (or **Select Collections**) to pick where the widget appears. Selected items are listed below the field, and you can remove any of them with the delete icon.

⚠️ You must select **at least one** product or collection — the offer cannot be saved without a target.

# **💸 Step 5 — Configure the Discount**

Still inside the **General** tab, scroll down to the **Discount** card.

## **Discount Type**

Choose how customers save when they buy the combo:

| Discount Type | How it works |
| ----- | ----- |
| No Discount | Combo sells at full combined price (visual bundle only) |
| % Discount | Percentage off the bundle (e.g. 25% off) |
| Flat Discount | A fixed amount off the whole bundle (e.g. $29 off) |
| On Each Unit Flat Discount | A fixed amount off **each unit** in the bundle |
| Specific Price | The entire bundle sells at one fixed price (e.g. $29.00 total) |

## **Discount**

Enter the discount value.

ℹ️ The Discount field stays **disabled** when **No Discount** is selected.

ℹ️ **How it works behind the scenes:** when you save, Hoppy Bundles automatically creates a matching automatic discount inside **Shopify Admin → Discounts**. This discount powers the reduced price at checkout — please don't delete it manually from your Shopify admin.

# **🎁 Step 6 — Add a Free Gift (Optional)**

Below the Discount card, you'll find the **Free Gift** card.

Want to sweeten the deal? Enable the **Free gift** checkbox, then click **Select Gift Products** to choose which product(s) get added **free of charge** when a customer buys the bundle.

Just like bundle products, each gift lets you:

* 🔢 Set a quantity  
* ✏️ Rename it with a custom display name  
* ❌ Remove it

⚠️ Unchecking the **Free gift** checkbox clears all selected gift products — you'll need to re-select them if you turn it back on.

💡 Free gifts work great as low-cost, high-perceived-value add-ons (samples, stickers, accessories).

# **⚙️ Step 7 — Configure Widget Settings**

Now move to the **Settings** card. These options control how the widget behaves and what customers see.

## **💰 Show Unit Price**

Displays the individual price of each product inside the bundle — great for transparency.

## **🚀 Skip Cart Directly to Checkout**

When enabled, customers are taken **straight to checkout** after clicking the bundle button, skipping the cart page entirely.

💡 Perfect for reducing friction on ready-to-buy customers — but keep it off if you want shoppers to keep browsing.

## **🏷️ Show Compare To Price**

Shows the original "compare at" price next to the discounted bundle price, so the savings are obvious.

ℹ️ Enabling this reveals an extra field: **Custom compare price**. Set a value here to override the compare price from your Shopify listing — or leave it **blank / 0** to use your products' existing compare-at prices.

## **📦 Use Custom Text for Inventory Tracking**

Shows a custom message to customers when a selected product in the bundle is **out of stock**.

ℹ️ Enabling this reveals a text field where you can write your own message.

### **Example**

"Highlighted item(s) are out of stock"

## **🔄 Combination Discounts**

Controls whether the bundle discount can combine with other discount types in cart and checkout:

* **Order discounts** → Allow combining with order-level discounts  
* **Shipping discounts** → Allow combining with shipping discounts

ℹ️ Due to Shopify restrictions, this setting applies **globally to all new offers**, not just this bundle.

## **🎯 Target Products**

ℹ️ This section only appears for **Manual Selection** bundles.

Choose **on which product pages** the bundle widget should appear. You don't have to show it on every product in the combo — for example, show the *T-Shirt \+ Trousers* bundle only on the T-Shirt page.

⚠️ **At least one product must stay selected** — the counter (e.g. `2/3`) shows how many are targeted.

## **🔘 Call to Action**

The text on the bundle button.

### **Example**

* "Add Bundle To Cart" (default)  
* "Grab the Combo 🛒"  
* "Get the Set & Save"

## **✨ Highlighted Tag**

A small badge shown on the widget (default: *"Combo"*). Use it for short punchy labels like **"Best Value"** or **"Save 20%"**.

Click the **eye icon** next to the field to show or hide the tag. When hidden, the text field becomes disabled.

## **🦶 Footer Text**

A small line of text at the bottom of the widget (default: *"Free Shipping"*). Handy for reassurance messages like *"Free shipping included 🚚"*.

# **🌍 Optional — Multiple Markets**

Selling internationally? The **Multiple Markets** section lets you enable **different offer settings for each market** — for example, a different bundle title or discount value per country.

For each market you can also decide how the discount is gated with **Discount Based On**:

* **Cart total amount** → Discount applies once the bundle's total value reaches a **Minimum cart value**  
* **Product quantity** → Discount applies once a **Minimum quantity** of items is in the bundle (with an option to **count only unique products**)

💡 Most merchants can skip this during their first setup — the default (primary market) settings work out of the box.

# **🈯 Optional — Translation**

The **Translation** card lets you translate the widget's text into the other languages your store supports.

This is fully optional during setup — configure it once your bundle is live and you're ready to localize. Refer to the dedicated Translation guide for details.

# **🎨 Optional — Design Your Widget**

Switch to the **Design** tab to make the widget match your store's look:

* **Typography & Colour** → Use your theme font or pick from Google Fonts, and set sizes, weights, and colors for every text element  
* **Border Width & Radius** → Round or sharpen the widget's corners  
* **Background & Border Colors** → Style the product rows, footer, tag, and button

# **📍 Step 8 — Set Targeting & Placement**

Switch to the **Targeting & Placement** tab.

## **🧩 Placement**

Controls where the widget appears:

* **Below Add to Cart Button (Default)** → The widget automatically renders right under the Add to Cart button on the targeted product pages. No code needed ✅  
* **Custom (only on product page)** → You place the widget yourself.

### **Custom Placement**

When you choose **Custom**, the app shows two things **after you save the offer**:

* **Hoppy Bundles ID** → Use it to add the **Hoppy Bundles app block** anywhere on your product page through the theme editor  
* **Hoppy Bundles code snippet** → A `<div>` snippet you can paste anywhere in your theme's code

ℹ️ Save your offer first — the ID and snippet only appear once the bundle exists.

## **👥 Customer Targeting (Optional)**

Show or hide the bundle based on who's browsing:

* **Visibility (Customer Login Status)** → Show to everyone, only logged-in customers, or only guests  
* **Show to** → All customers, customers with specific tags, or customers above a lifetime spent amount  
* **Hide from** → Exclude specific customer tags or lifetime-spent groups

## **🌎 Geolocation Targeting (Optional)**

By default the widget shows in **All world**. Switch to **Specific countries** to limit the bundle to selected countries only.

## **🗓️ Scheduling (Optional)**

Set a **start date** and/or **end date** to run the bundle as a timed campaign.

⚠️ The end date must be **in the future** and **after the start date** — otherwise the offer won't save.

💡 Scheduling is perfect for flash-sale combos and seasonal bundles 🎄

ℹ️ Customer Targeting and Geolocation Targeting have their own dedicated docs — the defaults (show to everyone, everywhere) work great for a first bundle.

# **💾 Step 9 — Save Your Bundle**

Once your products and discount are configured:

1. Click **Save** on the save bar at the bottom of the screen

2. The offer is created along with its matching **automatic discount in Shopify** — kept **inactive (Draft)** for now, so nothing changes on your storefront yet.

⚠️ **Possible save errors to watch for:**

* *"At least 2 products are required"* → Add more products to your manual bundle  
* *"A bundle with the same products already exists and is published"* → Change the products or unpublish the existing bundle first  
* *"Bundle title is required"* → Fill in the Bundle Title field

# **🚀 Step 10 — Publish & Verify**

Ready to go live?

1. Click the **Publish** button at the top right of the page

2. The bundle's status badge changes from **Draft** to **Published**, and the Shopify discount activates automatically.

3. If the app embed isn't enabled yet, a banner appears prompting you to **Enable App Embed** — click it to jump straight into your theme editor.

4. Once published, a confirmation banner appears. Click **Open Store** and visit one of your targeted product pages to see the widget in action 👀

ℹ️ You can **Unpublish** anytime from the same button — the widget and discount deactivate instantly, without deleting your setup.

# **🎉 Final Result**

Once configured successfully:

✅ Customers see the bundle widget on your targeted product pages ✅ All bundle products get added to the cart together with one click ✅ The discount (and free gift 🎁) applies automatically at checkout ✅ Out-of-stock items show your custom message instead of breaking the offer ✅ Your Average Order Value grows as customers buy combos instead of single items 📈
