# 🚀 How to setup Buy One Get One (BOGO)

Want to run a classic “Buy 1 Get 1 Free” deal — or any Buy X Get Y variation — without touching discount codes? 🎁

That’s exactly what the **BOGO (Buy One Get One)** offer in Hoppy Bundles is designed for.

With this offer type, you can create deals such as:

* 🛒 Buy 1 → Standard Price
* 🎉 Buy 2 → Get 1 Free
* 🔥 Buy 3 → Get 1 Free

—and display them as a neat, clickable widget directly on your product page.

Customers simply pick the deal they like, and the free item discount is applied automatically at checkout ✨

ℹ️ BOGO uses the same setup screen as a **Quantity Break** offer — it just opens pre-filled with BOGO-style tiers and the **YAY \! It’s BOGO** template, so you’re never starting from a blank page.

---

# **📍 Where the BOGO Widget Appears**

The BOGO widget appears on your **Product Page**, right below the Add to Cart button (default placement).

You can also place it anywhere else on the product page using the **Custom placement** option (covered later in this guide).

ℹ️ The free item is added and discounted **automatically at checkout** — customers don’t need to add the free item to the cart themselves or enter any discount code.

---

# **🛠️ Example Setup Used in This Documentation**

In this documentation, we’ll configure the following BOGO structure (this is exactly what Hoppy Bundles pre-fills for you):

* 🛒 1 Pair → Standard Price (No Discount)
* 🎉 Buy 2 Get 1 → the 3rd item is free
* 🔥 Buy 3 Get 1 → the 4th item is free

The offer will be applied to **specific products** and displayed using the pre-selected **YAY \! It’s BOGO** template.

This guide explains each setting you’ll touch during setup, so you know exactly how every option behaves ⚙️

---

# **✅ Before You Begin — Enable the App Embed**

For the BOGO widget to appear on your storefront, the app embed must be enabled inside your Shopify theme.

Go to:

**Shopify Admin → Sales Channels → Online Store → Themes → Customize → App Embeds**

Then:

* Find **Bundles App Embed**
* Toggle it ON
* Click Save

⚠️ **Important**: Without the app embed enabled, your published offer will not be visible on the storefront — even if everything inside the app is configured correctly.

---

# **🎯 Step 1 — Create a New BOGO Offer**

Open the **Hoppy Bundles** app from your Shopify Admin.

Then:

→ Click **Create New Offer** to open the offer type selection page.

→ Find the **BOGO (Buy One Get One)** card — *“Buy one product and get another free or discounted”* — and click **Create a BOGO Offer**.

💡 Want the customer to buy a fixed quantity and get a **different product** at a discount instead? The **Buy X Get Y** card right next to it opens the same setup with tiers pre-filled for that flow (e.g. “Buy 2 Get 3”).

---

# **🧩 Step 2 — Name Your Offer & Choose Where It Applies**

The first screen asks for the basics before anything else.

---

## **🏷️ Offer Name**

This field is used for internal purposes only.

Customers will never see this name.

You can use any recognizable name such as:

* Summer BOGO Sale
* T-Shirt Buy 2 Get 1
* Black Friday BOGO

💡 Using proper internal naming makes it easier to identify setups later, especially if your store runs multiple offers.

---

## **📦 Apply Offer On**

This setting controls which products the BOGO deal applies to.

There are 3 available options:

* **All Products** → the offer applies to every product in your store
* **Product** → the offer applies only to the products you select
* **Collection** → the offer applies to every product inside the collections you select

If you choose **Product** or **Collection**, a **Select Product** / **Select Collection** button appears. Click it to open your Shopify resource picker and choose one or more items.

⚠️ **Important**: Only **one published offer** is allowed per product or collection. If another published offer already covers the same product, you’ll need to convert that one to a draft before publishing this one.

---

# **🎨 Step 3 — Pick a Template**

Next, you’ll see the **Select Your Preferred Offer** section with a row of ready-made widget templates.

Because you started from the BOGO card, the **YAY \! It’s BOGO** template (the violet one 💜) is already pre-selected for you — you can simply keep it.

You can also pick a different starting point:

* **Bundle & Save** → build one from scratch
* **Limited Time Offer** → orange-themed tiers
* **Flash Sale Madness\!** → pink-themed tiers
* **YAY \! It’s BOGO** → violet-themed BOGO tiers (pre-selected)

Once you’re happy with the selection, click **Apply selected template**.

⚠️ The apply button stays disabled until you’ve selected at least one product or collection (when **Apply Offer On** is set to **Product** or **Collection**).

After applying, the full editor opens with a **live preview** on the right — both **desktop** and **mobile** — that updates instantly as you change settings ✨

---

# **⚙️ Step 4 — Configure Your BOGO Tiers (General Tab)**

This is where your BOGO deal actually takes shape. You’ll see your tiers as tabs — **Offer 1**, **Offer 2**, **Offer 3** — each one a clickable deal on the storefront widget.

---

## **✏️ Offer Name & Selected Offer**

At the top of the General tab, a small summary card shows your **Offer Name** (click the ✏️ icon to rename it) and your **Selected Offer** template.

---

## **📐 Template Layout**

Choose how the tiers are displayed:

* **Vertical** → tiers stacked on top of each other (default)
* **Horizontal** → tiers side by side

With the **Vertical** layout, you also get a **Choose a theme** option with quick color presets (blue, red, green).

---

## **🎁 Edit Offer — Your BOGO Tiers**

Each tier tab has its own settings. Here’s what each one does for a BOGO setup:

### **💸 Discount Type**

This dropdown is the heart of your tier. The BOGO-relevant options are:

* **No Discount** → the items are sold at standard price (perfect for your “1 Pair” base tier)
* **BOGO (Buy One Get One)** → buy the tier quantity, get extra item(s) of the **same product** free
* **Buy X Get Y Free** → buy the tier quantity, get a **different product** (the “Y” product) free

The other discount types (**% Discount**, **Flat discount**, **On each unit flat discount**, **Specific Price**) also work here if you ever want a mixed widget — e.g. one BOGO tier plus one “20% OFF” tier.

### **🔢 Quantity \+ Buy / Get**

The **Quantity** field controls how many items the customer adds when they pick this tier — and for BOGO tiers, it also sets the **Buy** amount automatically.

* With **BOGO (Buy One Get One)** selected, you’ll see **Buy** and **Get** boxes instead of a discount value. Both are read-only: **Buy** always matches the tier quantity, and **Get** is fixed at **1 free item**.
* With **Buy X Get Y Free** selected, **Buy** follows the tier quantity, but **Get** is **editable** — so you can offer “Buy 2, Get 3” style deals.

💡 Want a classic **Buy 1 Get 1 Free**? Just set a tier’s **Discount Type** to **BOGO (Buy One Get One)** and its **Quantity** to **1** — done.

### **🎁 Get Product (Buy X Get Y Free only)**

When a tier uses **Buy X Get Y Free**, an extra **Get Product** section appears.

Click **Select Y Product** to open the resource picker and choose the free product your customer receives.

ℹ️ This is how you do “Buy a hoodie, get a cap free”. With the plain **BOGO (Buy One Get One)** type, the free item is always more of the **same product**, so no Y product is needed.

### **🏷️ Offer Title, Discount Label & Tag**

* **Offer Title** → the main text of the tier, e.g. *Buy 2 Get 1*
* **Discount Label** → the savings text shown on the tier, e.g. *Buy 2 get 1* — click the 👁️ icon to hide it
* **Tag** → a small highlight badge, e.g. *Most Popular* — also hideable with the 👁️ icon

💡 The pre-filled tiers already say “Buy 2 Get 1” and “Buy 3 Get 1” — just tweak the wording to match your brand’s voice.

### **🎁 Free Gift (optional)**

Tick the **Free gift** checkbox on any tier, then click **Select Products** to attach extra free gift products to that tier — on top of the BOGO free item itself.

### **➕ Add / 🗑️ Delete Tiers**

* Click **Add Offer** to add another tier (maximum **6** tiers)
* Click **Delete** to remove the current tier (at least **2** tiers are required)

---

## **📰 Block Title & Footer Text**

* **Block Title** → the heading above the widget. It’s pre-filled with **“BOGO Offer”** — change it to anything you like, or hide it with the 👁️ icon
* **Footer Text** → a small line below the tiers (default: *Free Shipping*), also hideable

---

# **🛠️ Step 5 — Configure Settings**

Still on the **General** tab, the **Settings** card controls how the widget behaves.

## **👀 Appearance and Looks**

* **Show unit price** → display the per-item price inside each tier
* **Show total price** → display the tier’s total price
* **Hide header and footer lines** → removes the widget’s header/footer divider lines
* **Use custom text for Out of Stock** → shows your own message when the product is out of stock (a text field appears below when enabled)

## **⚙️ Functionality**

* **Let customers choose different variants for each item** → handy for BOGO — e.g. buy 2 shirts, pick a different size/color for each, and still get the free one
* **Display widget below add to cart button** → keeps the widget anchored under the Add to Cart button
* **Skip cart directly to checkout** → sends customers straight to checkout when they pick a tier
* **Volume Discount (Extend Max Discount to All Quantities)** → lets customers buy additional items beyond the highest tier at the same maximum discount rate
* **Show compare to price** → shows the struck-through compare-at price; enabling it reveals **Custom compare price** and **Shopify product compare price** fields

## **🔄 Enable Discount Combination**

* **Order discounts** → allow this offer to combine with order-level discounts
* **Shipping discounts** → allow it to combine with shipping discounts

ℹ️ Product discounts always combine. Due to Shopify restrictions, this combination setting applies globally to all new quantity-break-based offers (including BOGO).

## **🌍 Multiple Markets & Translation**

Further down you’ll find **Multiple Markets** (different tiers per market) and **Translation** (widget text in your store’s other languages). Both are optional and covered in their own dedicated guides.

---

# **🎯 Step 6 — Targeting & Placement (Optional)**

The **Targeting & Placement** tab controls where and to whom the offer shows.

## **📍 Placement**

* **Below Add to Cart Button (Default)** → no extra work needed
* **Custom (only on product page)** → after saving, you’ll get your **Hoppy bundles ID** and a copyable **code snippet** to drop anywhere in your theme

## **👤 Customer Targeting & 🌍 Geolocation Targeting**

* Show or hide the offer based on **login status, customer tags, or total amount spent**
* Limit the offer to **specific countries** (default: **All world**)

There’s also a **Scheduling** section to set a **start** and **end** date/time for the offer — perfect for a weekend BOGO flash sale ⏰

ℹ️ All of these are optional. If you skip them, the offer simply shows to everyone, everywhere, right away. Advanced targeting is covered in detail in its own dedicated guide.

---

# **🎨 Design Tab (Optional)**

The **Design** tab controls the visual styling of the widget:

* **Typography & Colour** → font family, text sizes, weights, and colors for every element
* **Variant** → small / medium / large sizing for variant selectors
* **Border** → border width and corner radius sliders

💡 Every change reflects instantly in the live preview on the right — both in the **desktop** and **mobile** preview panels.

ℹ️ The pre-selected **YAY \! It’s BOGO** template already looks great out of the box, so this step is entirely optional. Styling is covered in depth in the dedicated design guide.

---

# **✅ Final Step — Save & Publish**

Once everything looks good in the preview:

1. Click **Save** in the save bar at the top of the page
2. Click **Publish** to make the offer live ⚠️ **Please note**:
* The **Publish** button is disabled while the offer is brand new — **save first**, then publish.
* Publishing creates an **automatic discount** in your **Shopify Admin → Discounts**. This is what actually applies the free items at checkout — please don’t delete or edit it manually.
* If the app embed is not enabled in your theme, a banner will appear after saving with an **Enable App Embed** shortcut button — click it, toggle the embed on, and save your theme.
* If publishing fails because another published offer already covers the same product or collection, convert that existing offer to a draft first, then publish again.

Your BOGO offer is now live 🚀

---

# **🎉 Final Result**

Once configured successfully:

✅ Customers see your BOGO tiers directly on the product page ✅ Free items are added and discounted automatically at checkout ✅ Tiers, tags, and labels update instantly from the app ✅ The widget matches your theme with the template and colors you picked

Here’s how the finished widget looks on the storefront — clear BOGO deals, one-click selection, and free items applied automatically at checkout ✨

---

💡 Want the free item to be a **different product** instead of more of the same? Edit a tier, switch its **Discount Type** to **Buy X Get Y Free**, and pick your free product with **Select Y Product** — no need to start over.
