# 🚀 How to setup Category Quantity Break

Want to reward customers for buying more — even when they mix **different products** in one pack? 🛍️

That’s exactly what the **Category Quantity Break** offer in Hoppy Bundles is designed for.

With this offer type, you can create pack-based discount tiers such as:

* 🛒 1 Pack → Standard Price
* 💸 2 Pack → 10% OFF
* 💰 3 Pack → 20% OFF

—where each pack is filled with the product the customer is viewing **plus extra products they pick from a list you curate**.

Customers simply select a pack, choose their extra products, and the discount is applied automatically at checkout ✨

ℹ️ Looking for quantity discounts on **one single product** instead? That’s the **Quantity Break** offer — it has its own dedicated guide.

---

# **📍 Where the Category Quantity Break Widget Appears**

The Category Quantity Break widget appears on your **Product Page**, right below the Add to Cart button (default placement).

You can also place it anywhere else on the product page using the **Custom placement** option (covered later in this guide).

The widget shows your packs as neat, radio-selectable tiers — the customer taps a pack, picks the extra products for it, and hits your Add to Cart button 👇

---

# **🛠️ Example Setup Used in This Documentation**

In this documentation, we’ll configure the following pack structure:

* 🛒 1 Pack → Standard Price (No Discount)
* 💸 2 Pack → 10% OFF — customer picks 1 extra product
* 💰 3 Pack → 20% OFF — customer picks 2 extra products

This guide explains each setting you’ll touch during setup, so you know exactly how every option behaves ⚙️

---

# **✅ Before You Begin — Enable the App Embed**

For the Category Quantity Break widget to appear on your storefront, the app embed must be enabled inside your Shopify theme.

Go to:

**Shopify Admin → Sales Channels → Online Store → Themes → Customize → App Embeds**

Then:

* Find **Bundles App Embed**
* Toggle it ON
* Click Save

⚠️ **Important**: Without the app embed enabled, your published offer will not be visible on the storefront — even if everything inside the app is configured correctly.

---

# **🎯 Step 1 — Create a New Category Quantity Break Offer**

Open the **Hoppy Bundles** app from your Shopify Admin.

Then:

→ Click **Create New Offer** to open the offer type selection page.

→ Find the **Category Quantity Break** card (subtitle: **(Different products)**) and click **Create a Category Quantity Break**.

The setup editor opens right away — no template picking needed. Your offer starts with 3 pre-filled pack levels, and a live preview of the widget sits on the right side of the screen 👀

---

# **⚙️ Step 2 — Get to Know the Editor**

The editor is organized into 3 tabs:

* **General** → offer name, pack levels, and behavior settings
* **Design** → fonts, colors, and borders
* **Targeting & Placement** → who sees the offer and where it appears

This guide focuses on the settings you need to get the offer live. Let’s go through the **General** tab section by section.

---

## **✏️ Offer Name**

At the top of the General tab you can see your **Offer Name** (it starts as “Category QB Offer”).

This field is used for internal purposes only — customers will never see this name.

Click the **pencil icon** next to it to rename it anytime. You can use any recognizable name such as:

* Summer Skincare Packs
* Mix & Match Snack Deal
* Black Friday Bundles

💡 Using proper internal naming makes it easier to identify setups later, especially if your store runs multiple offers.

---

# **🎁 Step 3 — Configure Your Pack Levels (Edit Offer)**

This is the heart of the setup ❤️

Each pack level lives on its own tab (**Offer 1**, **Offer 2**, **Offer 3**…). Click a tab to edit that level.

For our example setup:

* **Offer 1** → Quantity `1`, Discount type `No Discount`
* **Offer 2** → Quantity `2`, Discount type `% Discount`, Discount `10`
* **Offer 3** → Quantity `3`, Discount type `% Discount`, Discount `20`

---

## **💸 Discount Type**

This dropdown controls what kind of deal the pack offers:

| Discount Type | What it does |
| ----- | ----- |
| No Discount | Standard price — useful as a “1 Pack” baseline level |
| % Discount (e.g. 25% off) | Percentage off the pack |
| Flat discount (e.g. $29.00 off) | Fixed amount off the pack |
| On each unit flat discount | Fixed amount off **each unit** in the pack |
| Specific Price (e.g. $29.00) | Customers pay exactly this price for the pack |
| BOGO (Buy One Get One) | Buy X items, get Y items free |
| Buy X Get Y Free | Buy X items, get a **different product** discounted/free |

Depending on the discount type, extra fields appear automatically:

* **% / Flat / Per-unit / Specific Price** → a **Discount** input field for the value (disabled for **No Discount**)
* **BOGO** → **Buy** and **Get** fields (Buy is locked to the pack quantity)
* **Buy X Get Y Free** → **Buy** and **Get** fields (Buy is locked to the pack quantity), plus a **Select Y Product** button to choose which product the customer gets

⚠️ **Please note**: For **Buy X Get Y Free**, make sure you actually select a “Y” product — without one, the pack has nothing to give away.

ℹ️ For **BOGO** and **Buy X Get Y** levels, the **Buy** condition automatically follows the pack quantity.

---

## **🔢 Quantity**

The total number of items in the pack — including the product the customer is viewing.

So a level with Quantity `3` means: the current product **\+ 2 extra products** the customer picks.

⚠️ Quantity must be greater than 0 — you’ll see an inline error if it isn’t.

---

## **🏷️ Offer Title**

The main text shown on the pack level, e.g.:

* 1 Pack
* 2 Pack
* 3 Pack

---

## **📦 Products in This Pack**

ℹ️ This section only appears on levels where **Quantity is greater than 1** — a “1 Pack” level has no extra products to add.

Here you curate the products customers can fill the pack with:

* Click **Add Products to this Level** to open your Shopify product picker and choose one or more products
* Each added product shows up in the list with its image and title
* Click the **✕** next to a product to remove it from the pack

💡 You can also manage pack products directly from the live preview on the right — use the **Choose** button on an empty slot to fill it, or the **✕** on a filled slot to clear it. Both update your setup instantly.

---

## **🏷️ Discount Label & Tag**

Each level has two optional text decorations:

* **Discount Label** → the deal text shown on the pack, e.g. “10% OFF”
* **Tag** → a small badge, e.g. “Most Popular”

Both fields have an **eye icon** 👁️ on the right side — click it to show or hide that element on the storefront.

💡 Adding a “Most Popular” tag to your middle pack is a simple way to nudge customers toward it.

---

## **➕ Add / 🗑️ Delete Levels**

Below the offer tabs you’ll find:

* **Add Level** → adds a new pack level tab (maximum **6 levels**)
* **Delete Level** → removes the currently selected level (at least **1 level** must remain)

If you hit one of these limits, a small toast message will let you know.

---

# **🛠️ Step 4 — Configure Settings**

Scroll down in the General tab to find the settings below your pack levels.

---

## **🖱️ CTA Button Text**

The text shown on the widget’s Add to Cart button (default placeholder: “Add Bundle To Cart”).

💡 Match this to your pack language — e.g. “Add Pack To Cart” or “Build My Pack”.

---

## **🔄 Enable Discount Combination**

These options let your Category Quantity Break discount combine with other discount types at checkout:

* **Order discounts**
* **Shipping discounts**

ℹ️ Product discount combination is always on. Also note that due to Shopify restrictions, this setting applies globally to all new quantity break offers.

---

## **🌍 Multiple Markets & Translation**

Below Settings you’ll also find:

* **Multiple Markets** → set market-specific pack pricing for the offer
* **Translation** → translate widget texts for your store’s additional languages

ℹ️ These are optional and not required to get your offer live — they’re covered in their own dedicated guides.

---

# **🎯 Step 5 — Targeting & Placement (Optional)**

Switch to the **Targeting & Placement** tab to control where the widget appears and who sees it.

---

## **📍 Placement**

* **Below Add to Cart Button (Default)** → the widget is placed automatically on the product page — recommended for most stores
* **Custom (only on product page)** → place the widget anywhere you like on the product page

If you choose **Custom**, the app gives you two things **after saving**:

* **Hoppy bundles ID** → use it to add/reposition the Hoppy Bundles app block in your theme editor
* **Hoppy bundles code snippet** → a small `<div>` you can paste anywhere in your theme code

ℹ️ Until the offer is saved once, you’ll see “Save to see Hoppy bundles ID and code snippet”.

---

## **👤 Customer Targeting & 🌍 Geolocation Targeting**

These optional sections let you:

* Show the offer only to **logged-in customers**
* Show or hide the offer based on **customer tags** or **lifetime spent**
* Limit the offer to **specific countries** (default: **All world**)

There’s also a **Scheduling** section to set a **start** and **end** date/time for the offer — handy for flash sales ⏰

ℹ️ All of these are optional. If you skip them, the offer simply shows to everyone, everywhere, right away. Advanced targeting is covered in detail in its own dedicated guide.

---

# **🎨 Design Tab (Optional)**

The **Design** tab controls the visual styling of the widget:

* **Font Family** → pick a font, or stick with **Use theme fonts**
* **Typography & Colour** → text sizes, weights, and colors for every element
* **Border** → border width and corner radius sliders

💡 Every change reflects instantly in the live preview on the right — both in the **desktop** and **mobile** preview panels.

ℹ️ The defaults already look great out of the box, so this step is entirely optional. Styling is covered in depth in the dedicated design guide.

---

# **✅ Final Step — Save & Publish**

Once everything looks good in the preview:

1. Click **Save** in the save bar at the top of the page
2. Click **Publish** to make the offer live ⚠️ **Please note**:
* The **Publish** button is disabled while the offer is brand new — **save first**, then publish.
* Publishing creates an **automatic discount** in your **Shopify Admin → Discounts**. This is what actually applies the pack prices at checkout — please don’t delete or edit it manually.
* If the app embed is not enabled in your theme, a banner will appear after saving with an **Enable App Embed** shortcut button — click it, toggle the embed on, and save your theme.

Your Category Quantity Break offer is now live 🚀

---

# **🎉 Final Result**

Once configured successfully:

✅ Customers see your pack levels directly on the product page ✅ They pick a pack, choose the extra products, and add everything in one click ✅ Discounts apply automatically at checkout ✅ Levels, tags, and labels update instantly from the app ✅ The widget matches your theme with the fonts and colors you picked

Here’s how the finished widget looks on the storefront — clean packs, clear savings, and one-click selection ✨
