# 🛒 How to Show the Delivery Widget on the Cart

The Delivery Dates widget lets customers pick **how** and **when** they want their order — right from the cart page 🗓️

Getting it live takes just two things: enabling the **app embed** in your theme, and turning on the **Show on cart** toggle in the app. This guide covers both, plus what the widget actually looks like for your customers.

---

# **📋 Before You Begin**

Make sure you have:

* ✅ The **Hoppy Delivery Dates** app installed on your store
* ✅ Access to **Online Store → Themes** in your Shopify admin
* ✅ At least one location or shipping option configured (otherwise the widget has nothing to offer — see **Location: How to Create and Manage a Location?**)

---

# **🧩 Step 1 — Enable the App Embed in Your Theme**

The app embed loads the widget's code on your storefront. It's a one-time setup per theme.

Go to:

**Shopify Admin → Online Store → Themes → Edit Theme**

Then:

→ In the theme editor, open the **App embeds** section (the puzzle-piece icon in the left sidebar)

→ Find **“Delivery dates”** and toggle it ON

→ Click **Save** in the top-right corner

⚠️ The widget won't appear until you click **Save** — toggling alone doesn't publish the change. If you switch themes later, you'll need to enable the embed again on the new theme.

💡 Shortcut: on the app's **Home** dashboard, the **Setup Guide** step **“Activate app embed in Shopify”** has an **Open theme settings** button that takes you straight to the right place.

---

# **🔛 Step 2 — Turn On “Show on cart”**

The app embed loads the code — this toggle decides whether the widget actually renders on the cart page.

→ Open the app and go to **Settings**

→ Flip the **Show on cart** toggle ON at the top of the page

→ Click **Save**

That's it — the widget is now live on your cart page 🎉

ℹ️ **Show on cart** works as a master switch. Turn it off anytime to hide the widget without touching your theme.

---

# **👀 Step 3 — See How the Widget Looks on the Cart**

Open your store's cart page (add a product first if it's empty). The widget shows a colored bar with one **tab per fulfillment method** you offer:

* 🏪 **Store Pickup** → appears when at least one active location offers pickup. Customers choose a pickup location from a list, then pick a date and time slot.
* 🚚 **Local Delivery** → appears when at least one active location offers local delivery. Customers enter their **zip code**, hit **Check**, and — if you deliver there — pick a date and time slot.
* 📦 **Standard Shipping** → appears when shipping is turned on in the **Standard Shipping** tab in **Settings**. If **Enable slots** is checked, customers pick a date and slot; otherwise the widget simply notes that shipping is calculated at checkout.

Under the tabs, customers see the date picker (default placeholder **“Select date”**) with the heading **“When would you like to get this order?”**, followed by the time slot picker.

ℹ️ Only the methods you've actually configured show up as tabs. No pickup locations? No pickup tab. Customers never see options you don't offer.

By default, the widget sits near the bottom of the cart form, just before the checkout button area.

---

# **📐 Want to Move the Widget?**

You can change where the widget appears — before, after, or inside a specific element on your cart page — from the **Position** section on the **Appearance** page.

See **How to Position the Slot Picker on the Cart Page** for step-by-step instructions.

---

# **🎉 Final Result**

Once both steps are done:

✅ The **Delivery dates** app embed is enabled and saved in your theme ✅ **Show on cart** is turned on in **Settings** ✅ Customers see method tabs for **Store Pickup**, **Local Delivery**, and/or **Standard Shipping** ✅ Shoppers pick their preferred date and time slot before checkout

Your cart page now collects delivery preferences automatically 🚀
