# 🚀 Location How to Block Specific Dates and Times

Holidays, maintenance days, private events — sometimes a location simply can't take orders 🚫📅

With **Blackout Slots** you can block whole date ranges, or just specific hours within them, so those times disappear from the date picker for customers.

In this guide, you'll learn how to:

* 🗓️ Block a full date range
* ⏰ Block only certain hours within a date range
* 🗑️ Manage and remove blackout entries

---

# **📋 Before You Begin**

* You've created a location and set up its time slots (see *Location: How to Set Time Slots and Order Limits*)
* You know the dates (and times, if any) this location will be unavailable

---

# **⚙️ Step 1 — Open the Block Dates & Times Tab**

→ Go to **Settings → Delivery & Pickup** → Click **Edit** on your location → Open the **Block dates & times** tab

You'll see a **Local Delivery** section and/or a **Store Pickup** section — one per enabled fulfillment method. Blackouts are set per method, so you could block delivery on a day while still allowing pickup.

💡 If both methods should share the same blocked dates, tick **Same as Local Delivery** in the Store Pickup section.

---

# **🔘 Step 2 — Choose the Blackout Type**

In the **Blackout Slots** card, pick one of the radio options:

* **Date range** → blocks entire days — nothing can be ordered for those dates 🗓️
* **Date range with time slots** → blocks only specific hours inside the date range — the rest of the day stays bookable ⏰

### **Example**

* Date range `Dec 24 – Dec 26` → the location is closed for all three days
* Date range `Dec 31`, time `6:00 PM – 11:59 PM` → New Year's Eve is bookable until 6 PM only

---

# **📅 Step 3 — Add a Blackout Entry**

→ Use the calendar to select a start and end date (click the first date, then the last) → Click **Add**

Each entry appears as a card below with:

* **Start Date** and **End Date** → the range you picked
* **Start Time** and **End Time** → *only shown when you selected **Date range with time slots***, so you can fine-tune the blocked hours (default: 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM)

Repeat for as many blackout periods as you need — holidays, stock-take days, renovations…

---

# **🗑️ Step 4 — Remove a Blackout Entry**

Plans change — removing a block is easy:

→ Click **Delete** on the blackout entry you want to remove.

The dates become available to customers again as soon as you save.

---

# **💾 Final Step — Save**

→ Click **Save** in the save bar at the top of the page.

⚠️ Blackouts only take effect after saving — unsaved changes won't hide any dates from customers.

---

# **🎉 Final Result**
