⚙️ Appointment Bookings — Advanced Options
Each service in Hoppy Appointments has an Advanced tab with extra options for translations, terms, redirects, email behavior, and third-party triggers. These settings let you fine-tune the booking experience without changing the core scheduling or payment setup.
This guide explains what each Advanced option does and where to find more detailed documentation when needed.
🧭 Where to Find the Advanced Tab
- Open the Hoppy Appointments app
- Go to Services
- Click the service you want to configure
- Click the Advanced tab
The Advanced tab is divided into cards. Each card covers a specific area.
🌐 Advanced Configuration
The Advanced Configuration toggle controls whether the booking widget uses global translations or per-service translations.
- Off — the widget uses the global calendar translations from Settings → Translations → Calendar Translations
- On — the widget uses per-service translations from Settings → Translations → Service Translations
This is useful when a service needs its own button labels, field labels, or confirmation text in a different language or tone than the rest of your store.
For a full walkthrough of the translation system, see Appointment Bookings — Translation.
📋 Booking Terms
The Booking Terms card lets you add a terms-and-conditions checkbox to the booking form.
- Booking terms label — the text shown next to the checkbox, such as "I agree to the terms and conditions"
- Booking terms URL — the link to your full terms page
- Mandatory — when enabled, customers must check the box before they can complete the booking
Use this to collect agreement for cancellation policies, liability waivers, age requirements, or any other conditions.
⚠️ If you enable Mandatory, both the label and the URL are required.
↪️ Redirect After Booking
This card only appears when the service uses Book without pay. It lets you send customers to a custom page after they complete their booking.
- Do not redirect — customers stay on the default booking success page
- Redirect the customer — customers are sent to a URL you specify
When redirect is enabled, enter the destination URL. This is helpful for sending customers to a custom thank-you page, a survey, or additional onboarding content.
For services that require payment, checkout handles the post-booking flow, so this option is hidden.
📧 Booking Options
The Booking options card controls the custom confirmation message and the reschedule/cancel behavior for this service.
Custom booking confirmation message
Add a short message that appears in the booking confirmation email. Use it for welcome notes, preparation instructions, or reminders about what to bring.
Show cancel and reschedule buttons in emails
Enable these toggles to include cancel and reschedule action buttons in booking emails. Customers can update their booking without contacting you.
Minimum rescheduling / cancelling notice
Set how close to the appointment customers can still reschedule or cancel. For example, if you set the minimum cancelling notice to 24 hours, customers cannot cancel appointments that start in less than 24 hours.
For more details on customer reschedule/cancel flows and refund settings, see How Customers Reschedule or Cancel Appointments.
🔔 Trigger Event
The Trigger Event card lets you open the booking modal from outside the standard booking widget — for example, from a custom button or banner created using Hoppy Banners.
- Enable the Trigger Event toggle.
- Copy the trigger ID shown (it looks like
{serviceId}-trigger). - Use that trigger ID in your Hoppy Banners setup to launch the booking modal when customers interact with the banner.
This feature is designed specifically for integration with Hoppy Banners, allowing merchants to start the booking flow from promotional banners placed throughout the storefront.
🗂️ What Lives in Other Tabs
Some settings sound advanced but are located in other tabs. Here is a quick reference so you know where to look:
Setting | Where to find it |
|---|---|
Booking limits per day / per timeslot | Availability tab |
Payment type, waitlist, partial payments | Payment tab |
Team assignments and teammate availability | Availability tab |
Design, colors, fonts, custom CSS | Design tab |
Meeting locations | General tab |
Floating action button | General tab |
Custom contact questions | General tab |
⚠️ Important Notes
- Redirect after booking only works for Book without pay services. Paid services redirect through Shopify checkout.
- Mandatory booking terms require both a label and a URL. Save will fail if one is missing.
- Trigger Event is for technical integrations. You may need a developer or third-party app to use it effectively.
- Minimum notice settings apply to customers only. Admin reschedule and cancel links bypass these limits.
- Advanced Configuration only changes translation behavior. It does not affect pricing, availability, or payment.
