π― Bundles Offer - Advanced Targeting Options
Not every offer should be shown to every visitor, all the time. Sometimes you want a bundle deal that's just for your VIP customers, a flash sale that runs only this weekend, or a discount that's only visible to shoppers in certain countries π
That's exactly what the Targeting & Placement tab in Hoppy Bundles is for.
With the settings in this tab, you can control:
- π€ Who sees your offer (all visitors, logged-in customers, specific customer tags, or customers above a lifetime spend)
- π Where in the world the offer is shown (all countries or specific ones)
- β° When the offer goes live and when it stops (start/end date & time scheduling)
- π Where on the page the offer appears (default placement or a custom position)
This guide walks through every targeting option, what it does, and how it changes what shoppers see on your storefront β¨
β οΈ Before You Begin
To configure targeting:
β Open an existing Bundles Offer β Or create a new offer first (Bundle, Volume Discount, BYOB, etc.)
Then open the Targeting & Placement tab (it's the third tab, next to General and Design).
βΉοΈ Targeting settings are saved per offer, so different offers can have completely different targeting rules.
π§ Understanding How Targeting Works
Before diving into each setting, it helps to know how Hoppy Bundles decides whether to show an offer to a visitor.
When a product page loads on your storefront, the app runs a series of checks in this order for every active offer:
- β Product check β Is this offer meant for the product being viewed?
- π Geolocation check β Is the visitor's country allowed?
- π€ Customer check β Does the visitor pass the login/tag/spend rules?
- β° Schedule check β Is the current time within the start/end window?
If any check fails β the offer simply doesn't render on the page. The rest of your page is completely unaffected.
π‘ Think of targeting rules as filters stacked on top of each other. A visitor must pass every active filter to see the offer. There is no "match any one rule" mode β all enabled rules must pass together.
π Placement
- What it does: Controls where on the product page your offer widget appears.
- Options:
- Below Add to Cart Button (Default) β Hoppy Bundles automatically places the offer right under your theme's Add to Cart button. No setup needed.
- Custom (only on product page) β You choose the exact position yourself, using the Hoppy Bundles app block in the theme editor or a small code snippet placed anywhere in your theme.
When Custom is selected, two extra items appear (after you save the offer):
- Hoppy bundles ID β the unique ID of this offer, used by the app block in the theme editor.
- Hoppy bundles code snippet β a ready-to-paste snippet like
<div class="futureblink-bundle-block" id=...></div>that renders the offer wherever you paste it.
β οΈ Custom placement only works on product pages β the snippet won't render the offer on other page types.
π‘ This doc only summarizes placement. For a full step-by-step walkthrough, see the dedicated guide: How to set Bundles Offer for custom placement?
π€ Customer Targeting
This card lets you show (or hide) the offer based on who the visitor is β whether they're logged in, what customer tags they have, and how much they've spent in your store over their lifetime.
π Visibility (Customer Login Status)
- What it does: Decides whether visitors need a customer account to see the offer.
- Options:
- Show to all customers β Everyone sees the offer, including guests who aren't logged in.
- Show only to logged-in customers β Guests see nothing. The offer only appears once a visitor logs into their customer account.
- Why use it: Perfect for members-only deals, loyalty perks, or wholesale-style pricing you don't want the general public to see.
β οΈ If a visitor isn't logged in, Hoppy Bundles can't read their tags or lifetime spend β so tag/spend rules below can only be fully evaluated for logged-in customers. If you rely on tag or spend targeting, pairing it with Show only to logged-in customers gives the most predictable results.
π Show bar to:
This is your inclusion rule β it defines which customers the offer should be shown to.
π₯ All Customers
- What it does: No filtering β the offer shows to everyone (subject to the other rules on this tab).
- How to use: Leave this selected unless you specifically want to narrow your audience.
π·οΈ Target customers based on customer tag
- What it does: The offer is shown only to logged-in customers who carry at least one of the tags you list.
- How to use: Enter one or more customer tags, separated by commas.
- Example:
elite, plusβ any customer taggedeliteorplussees the offer.
- Example:
- Why use it: Run exclusive deals for VIPs, loyalty members, wholesale buyers, or email-list subscribers β just tag those customers in Shopify first.
βΉοΈ Tags must match the tags on the customer profile in Shopify. Keep them consistent (e.g. always lowercase) so nothing slips through due to a typo.
π° Target customers based on lifetime spent
- What it does: The offer is shown only to logged-in customers whose lifetime spend in your store is greater than or equal to the amount you enter.
- How to use: Enter a number in the Lifetime spent field (e.g.
5000). - Why use it: Reward your biggest spenders with a better bundle deal, or unlock a "big spender" offer automatically once a customer crosses a threshold.
π« Hide bar from:
This is your exclusion rule β it defines which customers the offer should be hidden from, even if they passed the "Show bar to" rule above.
π No one - use the settings from above
- What it does: No exclusions. Only the "Show bar to" rule decides visibility.
π·οΈ Target customers based on customer tag
- What it does: The offer is hidden from logged-in customers who carry at least one of the tags you list.
- How to use: Enter tags separated by commas β e.g. hide the offer from
staff, influencerso internal accounts never see (or use) the deal.
π° Target customers based on lifetime spent
- What it does: The offer is hidden from customers whose lifetime spend is greater than or equal to the amount entered.
- Why use it: Great for acquisition offers β e.g. show a first-purchase bundle deal only to newer/low-spend customers and automatically hide it from customers who've already spent a lot.
β οΈ Hide rules win. If a customer matches both a "Show bar to" rule and a "Hide bar from" rule, the offer is hidden. Use this on purpose β e.g. show to wholesale tag, but hide from wholesale-blocked tag.
π Geolocation Targeting
This card lets you control which countries can see the offer.
π All world
- What it does: The offer shows to visitors from every country. This is the default.
- How to use: Leave selected unless you want country-specific campaigns.
πΊοΈ Specific countries
- What it does: The offer shows only to visitors browsing from the countries you select. Everyone else sees nothing.
- How to use:
- Select Specific countries.
- Click the Select Countries button to open the country picker.
- Search for countries by name, tick the ones you want (or use Select All), and confirm with Select.
- The country picker shows a live count of how many countries you've selected, and your chosen countries are listed right on the card so you can review them at a glance.
- Switching back to All world clears your selected country list.
βΉοΈ How the country is detected: Hoppy Bundles uses Shopify's own browsing-context/localization data (the same mechanism Shopify uses for markets), and caches the detected country in the visitor's session for fast checks on every page load.
π‘ Why use it: Run region-specific promotions (e.g. a UK-only bank holiday bundle), avoid showing offers in countries you don't ship to, or create separate offers per region with different discounts.
β° Scheduling
This card lets you automate when the offer is live β perfect for flash sales, weekend promos, and holiday campaigns that should start and stop on their own.
π’ Start
- Right now β The offer is live immediately after you save (no start delay).
- Specific date β The offer stays hidden until the exact date and time you pick. Choose:
- π A date from the calendar
- π A time (hour, minute, AM/PM)
π΄ End
- Never β The offer runs indefinitely once live.
- Specific date β The offer automatically stops showing at the exact date and time you pick.
β οΈ If the end time has already passed, the offer won't render at all β even if everything else is configured correctly. If an offer "suddenly disappeared", check the end date first.
βΉοΈ Timezone behavior: The date/time you pick is saved as an absolute point in time based on your browser's timezone, and it's compared against the visitor's current time on the storefront. So "ends Friday 11:59 PM" ends at that exact moment for everyone, everywhere β no manual timezone math needed.
π‘ The schedule is also used to power countdown-style behavior on offers that show time remaining β the end time is what the countdown counts down to.
π Important Notes & Tips
- 𧱠Rules stack (AND logic). Country βοΈ + customer βοΈ + schedule βοΈ β a visitor must pass all of them to see the offer. Example: a VIP-tag offer scheduled for this weekend, targeted at the US, shows only to US-based VIP-tagged customers during that window.
- π« Hide beats Show. If a customer matches both a show rule and a hide rule, the offer is hidden.
- π» Guests and tags/spend. Customer tags and lifetime spend are only readable when a visitor is logged in. Guests can't match tag/spend rules β combine those rules with Show only to logged-in customers for clean results.
- π§ͺ Test like a real customer. Use a test customer account with the right tags/spend to verify your rules. An easy mistake is testing while logged in as yourself (a tagged staff account) and concluding the offer is "broken".
- π΅οΈ Test geo rules carefully. Since country detection is based on the visitor's location, you may need a VPN or a friend in the target country to verify country-specific offers.
- πΎ Save before judging. Targeting changes only take effect on the storefront after you click Save on the offer.
π‘ Examples & Use Casesπ VIP-only bundle deal β Visibility: Show only to logged-in customers β Show bar to: Target customers based on customer tag β VIP β Result: only logged-in customers tagged VIP see the bundle.
π New-customer welcome offer β Show bar to: All Customers β Hide bar from: Target customers based on lifetime spent β 1 β Result: the offer quietly hides itself from anyone who's already spent money in your store.
β‘ 48-hour flash sale β Start: Specific date β Friday 12:00 AM β End: Specific date β Sunday 11:59 PM β Result: the offer switches on and off automatically β no late-night manual work.
π¬π§ UK-only promotion β Geolocation: Specific countries β United Kingdom β Result: visitors browsing from the UK see the offer; everyone else doesn't.
π Regional wholesale deal β Visibility: Show only to logged-in customers β Show bar to: tag β wholesale β Geolocation: Specific countries β your wholesale markets β Result: only tagged wholesale accounts in those countries see the deal.
π Final Result
Once your targeting is configured, Hoppy Bundles quietly does the filtering for you on every page load β¨
With targeting set up properly:
β The right customers see the right offers β and nobody else does β VIPs, wholesale buyers, and big spenders get their exclusive deals automatically β Country-specific promotions stay limited to the countries you chose β Offers start and stop exactly on schedule, with zero manual effort β Your storefront stays clean for visitors who shouldn't see a given deal
Combine these rules thoughtfully, and you can run highly personalized, fully automated promotions β all from one tab π―
