π¨ How to create a Multiday Appointment Booking
Multiday bookings let customers reserve a range of dates, like a hotel stay, equipment rental, retreat, or workshop. Instead of picking a single time slot, they choose a start date and an end date.
This guide walks you through setting up a multiday booking service from start to finish.
β οΈ Before You Begin
Before creating a multiday booking service, make sure you have:
- The Hoppy Appointments app installed on your Shopify store
- A Shopify product to connect to the service
- A clear idea of whether you want to count stays in days or nights
π‘ The booking type is set when the service is created and cannot be changed later. If you are unsure whether multiday is right for you, see Appointment Bookings β Types of Bookings Explained first.
π οΈ Step 1 β Create a Multiday Service
- Open the Hoppy Appointments app
- Go to Services
- Click New Service
- On the Pick a service type page, select Multiday booking
- Click Create service
Youβll be taken to the service editor. The booking type is already set to multiday.
π οΈ Step 2 β Configure the Booking Page
Start in the General tab.
- Enter a Service name and Service description that explain what the multiday service includes
- Connect the service to a Shopify product
- Set a Meeting location if needed, such as in-person, Zoom, Google Meet, or a custom address
- Add any custom contact questions you need, such as:
- Number of guests
- Special requests
- Dietary requirements
These questions appear after the customer selects their date range.
π οΈ Step 3 β Configure Multiday Settings
Still in the General tab, find the Multiday settings card.
Is it a day or night booking?
Choose how the date range is counted:
- Day booking β a stay from the 10th to the 11th counts as 2 days
- Night booking β a stay from the 10th to the 11th counts as 1 night
Use Day booking for workshops or retreats. Use Night booking for hotels, vacation rentals, or equipment rentals.
Fixed quantity
This controls whether the product price is multiplied by the number of days or nights.
- Enabled β the customer pays a flat price no matter how long they stay. Use this for a retreat package or flat-rate rental.
- Disabled β the customer pays the product price multiplied by the number of days/nights. Use this for nightly rates.
For example, if your product is priced at $100 per night and the customer books 3 nights:
- Fixed quantity off β total is $300
- Fixed quantity on β total stays $100
π οΈ Step 4 β Set Availability
Go to the Availability tab.
Availability mode
Choose how availability is managed:
- Availability per service β one shared calendar for the service
- Availability per teammate β each teammate has their own calendar
Available hours
Set the fixed check-in and check-out times that apply to each day of the stay. For example, you might set check-in at 3:00 PM and check-out at 11:00 AM.
Customers do not pick individual times. These hours are used for the entire booking.
Minimum and maximum bookable days
Set the shortest and longest stays customers can book:
- Minimum bookable days β the shortest allowed stay
- Maximum bookable days β the longest allowed stay
For example, if you set minimum to 2 and maximum to 14, customers can book stays between 2 and 14 days or nights.
Availability rules
Add the days or date ranges when bookings are allowed. You can use:
- Weekly recurring hours β for example, available every Monday through Saturday
- Date-specific availability β for special seasons or limited openings
- Blocked dates β for holidays, maintenance, or days you are fully booked
You can also set Look ahead to limit how far in advance customers can start a booking.
π οΈ Step 5 β Configure Payment and Approval
Go to the Payment tab.
Multiday services are created with Pay to Book enabled by default. Here you can:
- Keep Pay to Book if customers must pay when they book
- Switch to Book without pay if payment is handled separately
- Choose Automatically accept bookings or require manual approval
- Enable partial payments if you want customers to pay a deposit upfront
For more details on payment options, see Appointment Bookings β All Payment Options Explained.
π οΈ Step 6 β Save and Test
- Click Save at the top of the service page
- Preview the booking widget on your storefront
- Select a start date and an end date
- Confirm the total days or nights and the price look correct
- Continue to the booking form and complete a test checkout
π What Customers See
- The customer opens the booking widget
- They select a start date on the calendar
- They select an end date to complete the range
- They see a summary showing the total days or nights
- They click Continue
- They fill out the booking form once
- They pay for the full stay at checkout
The booking is confirmed with the fixed check-in and check-out times you configured.
β οΈ Important Notes
- Booking type cannot be changed. Once you create a multiday service, you cannot convert it to Regular or Bundle.
- No time slots appear. Customers pick a date range only. Daily hours come from your Available hours setting.
- Duration, booking interval, and buffer time are not used. These options are hidden for multiday services.
- Timezone and hour selectors are hidden. Multiday bookings use the available hours you set in the Availability tab.
- Rescheduling is capped at the original paid quantity. Customers cannot reschedule to a longer stay than they originally paid for.
- Waitlist is available but simplified. The "Join waitlist when fully booked" option is hidden because multiday bookings do not use per-slot limits.
π Troubleshooting
Multiday booking is not an option when creating a service
Make sure you are clicking New Service from the Services list. The service type picker appears after that.
Customers canβt select a long enough stay
Check the Maximum bookable days setting in the Availability tab. The customerβs selected range cannot exceed this number.
The total price is wrong
Check the Fixed quantity setting in the General tab:
- If fixed quantity is off, the price is multiplied by days or nights
- If fixed quantity is on, the price stays flat regardless of length
Also confirm whether you selected Day booking or Night booking, since this affects how the date range is counted.
Customers are asking why they canβt pick a check-in time
Multiday bookings use the fixed Available hours from the Availability tab. Customers do not choose individual times. Update those hours if you want different check-in/check-out times.
π Final Result
Once configured:
β
Customers can select a start and end date for their stay
β
You control whether stays are counted in days or nights
β
You control whether the price is per day/night or a flat rate
β
Availability, blocked dates, and check-in/check-out hours are respected
β
Payment is collected through Shopify checkout
