π’ Announcement Bar is Not Showing on My Store [Fixed]
The Announcement Bar usually starts working immediately after setup β but sometimes a small configuration, visibility rule, or storefront condition can prevent it from appearing.
The good news is that these issues are usually very quick to fix π
This guide walks through the most common reasons why the Announcement Bar may not appear and how to resolve each issue step-by-step.
In most cases, the issue is related to one of the following:
- App Embed is disabled
- Setup was not saved
- Setup was not published
- Scheduling settings
- Geolocation targeting restrictions
- UTM targeting restrictions
- Customer targeting restrictions
- Page targeting conditions not met
- Device visibility mismatch
- Browser or storefront cache
Letβs go through them one-by-one π
β Step 1: Check if App Embed is Enabled
For the Announcement Bar to appear on the storefront, the app embed must be enabled inside your Shopify theme.
Go to:
Shopify Admin β Sales Channels β Online Store β Themes β Edit Theme β App Embeds
Then:
- Find the Announcement Bar app embed
- Toggle it ON
- Click Save
π‘ Tip:
If it was already enabled, try disabling it once and enabling it again, then click Save.
β Step 2: Save the Setup
Even if the Announcement Bar looks fully configured, unsaved changes will not take effect.
Open the Announcement Bar setup β Click Save
β Step 3: Publish the Setup
Customers will not see the Announcement Bar until the setup has been published.
Open the Announcement Bar setup β Click Publish
β οΈ Saving alone does not make the Announcement Bar live.
β Step 4: Check Scheduling Settings
Sometimes the Announcement Bar is configured to appear later or stop after a certain date.
Open the Announcement Bar setup β Placement tab β Scheduling
Then verify:
- Start Date
- End Date
Example
If the Start Date is tomorrow, the Announcement Bar will not appear today.
If the End Date has already passed, the Announcement Bar may automatically stop displaying.
β Step 5: Check Geolocation Targeting
If Geolocation Targeting is restricted to specific countries, the Announcement Bar will only appear for visitors from those locations.
Open the Announcement Bar setup β Placement tab β Geolocation Targeting
Then verify whether your country is included.
Example
If only the United States is selected and you are testing from India, the Announcement Bar will not appear unless you use a VPN or Shopify Preview.
β Step 6: Check Allowed UTM Sources
The Announcement Bar can be configured to appear only for visitors arriving from selected traffic sources.
This works using UTM parameters from platforms such as:
- Google Ads
- TikTok
- Email campaigns
Open the Announcement Bar setup β Placement tab β Allowed UTM Sources
Then verify whether there are any source restrictions enabled.
Example
If the Announcement Bar is configured only for Facebook traffic, direct visitors may not see it.
π₯ Step 7: Check Customer Targeting Settings
If Customer Targeting is configured incorrectly, the Announcement Bar may remain hidden for certain visitors.
To verify this:
β Open the Announcement Bar setup
β Navigate to the Placement tab
β Scroll to the Customer Targeting section
Check whether the Announcement Bar is configured to show only for:
- Logged-in customers
- Customers with specific tags
- Customers with a specific lifetime spent
β οΈ Example:
If the Announcement Bar is configured only for VIP-tagged customers, regular visitors will never see it.
π‘ For testing purposes, temporarily switch targeting to:
β Show to all customers
This helps confirm whether Customer Targeting is causing the issue.
β Step 8: Check Page Targeting
The Announcement Bar may only be configured to appear on selected pages.
Open the Announcement Bar setup β Placement tab
Then verify whether the Announcement Bar is configured to appear on:
- Every page
- Home page only
- Product pages
- Collection pages
- Pages matching specific product tags
β οΈ If you test on a page outside the configured targeting rules, the Announcement Bar will not appear.
β Step 9: Check Device Visibility
The Announcement Bar may be configured to appear only on desktop or mobile devices.
Open the Announcement Bar setup β Design tab β Visibility
Then verify whether it is set to:
- Desktop and Mobile
- Only Desktop
- Only Mobile
Example
If the Announcement Bar is configured as Only Desktop, it will not appear on mobile devices.
β Step 10: Hard Refresh Your Page
Sometimes Shopify or your browser temporarily caches storefront assets.
A hard refresh usually fixes this instantly.
Windows
Ctrl + Shift + R
Mac
Cmd + Shift + R
This forces the browser to load the latest storefront assets instead of cached versions.
β Step 11: Check in Incognito Window
Certain visibility conditions behave differently for returning visitors.
For example:
- Existing session data
- Cached storefront assets
- Previous interactions
can prevent the Announcement Bar from appearing again.
Try:
- Opening the storefront in Incognito Mode
- Testing from another browser
- Testing from another device
This helps confirm whether the issue is related to cache or visitor sessions.
Still Not Showing?
If youβve tried all the steps above and the Announcement Bar is still not visible:
- Re-save the setup
- Publish it again
- Re-enable the App Embed
- Test on another page
- Test in Incognito Mode
If the issue still continues, feel free to contact support directly from inside the app.
To help troubleshoot faster, please include:
- Store URL
- Announcement Bar type
- Screenshot of the setup
- Page URL where the Announcement Bar should appear
- Theme name
Weβll be happy to help π
