๐Ÿ›๏ธ How to Send Announcement Bar Subscribers to Shopify

Want every email you collect through your announcement bars to land directly inside your Shopify Customers list? โœจ

With the built-in Shopify Customer List Integration, Hoppy Announcement Banner automatically turns email subscribers into Shopify customer profiles โ€” no manual exports, no copy-paste, no extra tools needed.

This means you can:

  • ๐Ÿ“ง Build your Shopify email audience in real time
  • ๐ŸŽฏ Use Shopify's native email marketing tools
  • ๐Ÿš€ Retarget subscribers with Shopify campaigns and automations
  • ๐Ÿ’ฐ Turn casual visitors into returning customers

โœ… Before You Begin

Before setting up the sync, make sure:

  • You have already created and published at least one Email Collection Bar
  • You have collected at least one subscriber email (or you plan to test right after setup)

If you haven't created an Email Collection Bar yet, check out the How to Setup an Announcement Email Collection Bar guide first.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Step 1 โ€” Open the Integrations Section

Open the Hoppy Announcement Banner app from your Shopify Admin.

Then:

โ†’ Click Integrations from the left-side navigation menu

This is where all external connections and sync settings live.

โš™๏ธ Step 2 โ€” Enable Shopify Customer List Sync

Inside the Integrations page, locate the Shopify customer list integration card.

Then:

โ†’ Toggle Enable Shopify customer list sync to Yes

This tells the app to automatically create (or update) a Shopify customer profile every time someone submits their email through one of your collection bars.

๐Ÿ’ก Why this matters: Without this toggle enabled, emails are only stored inside the app and won't appear in your Shopify Admin โ†’ Customers list.

๐Ÿ“ฌ Step 3 โ€” Set Email Subscription Status

Right below the sync toggle, you'll see the Email Subscription setting.

Choose whether subscribers should be marked as:

  • Subscribed โ€” They'll be opted in to receive email marketing from your store
  • Not Subscribed โ€” Their profile is created, but they won't be opted in automatically

Which one should you pick?

Option

Best For

Subscribed

You want to immediately add subscribers to Shopify Email, Klaviyo, or other marketing flows

Not Subscribed

You prefer to manage consent separately or want to add them manually later

โš ๏ธ Important:

If you choose Subscribed, make sure your email collection bar clearly tells visitors they're signing up for marketing emails. This keeps your store compliant with email marketing regulations.

๐Ÿ’พ Step 4 โ€” Save the Integration Settings

After configuring the toggle and subscription status:

โ†’ Click Save

The app will confirm your settings are active. From this moment forward, every new email submitted through your Email Collection Bars will be synced automatically to Shopify Customers.

๐Ÿ”„ Step 5 โ€” Sync Previous Emails (Optional)

Already collected emails before enabling this integration? No problem.

Inside the same integration card:

โ†’ Click Sync previous emails

This will backfill every email you've already collected into your Shopify Customers list, using the same subscription setting you just chose.

๐Ÿ’ก This is a one-click operation โ€” no need to export CSVs or use third-party tools.

๐Ÿงช Step 6 โ€” Test the Sync

We always recommend testing to make sure everything is working smoothly.

To test:

โ†’ Open your storefront in an Incognito or Private browser window

โ†’ Trigger your Email Collection Bar

โ†’ Submit a test email address

Example:

testsubscriber@example.com

Then:

โ†’ Go to your Shopify Admin

โ†’ Navigate to:

Customers โ†’ All Customers

โ†’ Search for the test email

If the sync is working correctly, you'll see a new customer profile with the submitted email and the marketing subscription status you selected.

โš ๏ธ Common Questions

What happens if the same email is submitted twice?

The app automatically prevents duplicates. If a customer profile already exists in Shopify with that email, the app will update the existing profile instead of creating a duplicate.

Do I need to keep the integration page open?

Nope. Once saved, the sync runs automatically in the background every time someone submits an email.

Will this work with multiple Email Collection Bars?

Yes. The integration applies to all Email Collection Bars in your store โ€” past, present, and future.

Can I change the subscription status later?

Absolutely. Just return to the Integrations page, update the Email Subscription setting, and click Save. New submissions will use the updated status.

๐ŸŽ‰ Final Result

Once configured successfully:

โœ… Every new subscriber is automatically created as a Shopify customer

โœ… Your Shopify Customers list grows without manual work

โœ… Subscribers are tagged with your chosen email marketing status

โœ… You can retarget them using Shopify Email, automations, or third-party tools

โœ… Previously collected emails can be backfilled with one click

Your email list and Shopify store are now connected and working together ๐Ÿš€
