π How to setup Booking Availability
Booking availability controls when customers can see and book your services. Setting it up correctly means your calendar always reflects your real working hours, breaks, holidays, and capacity.
This guide walks you through configuring availability for any Hoppy Appointments service.
β οΈ Before You Begin
Before setting up availability, make sure:
- The Hoppy Appointments app is installed on your Shopify store
- You have created a service and connected a Shopify product β New to the app? Follow How to Setup Appointment Booking Services first
- The app embed is enabled so the booking calendar appears on your storefront
- (Optional) If you use teammates, they are already added in the Team section β See Working with Team in Appointment Bookings
π οΈ Step 1 β Open the Availability Tab
- Open the Hoppy Appointments app
- Go to Services
- Click the service you want to configure
- Open the Availability tab
This tab is where you set working hours, breaks, blocked dates, and booking rules.
π οΈ Step 2 β Choose an Availability Mode
At the top of the Availability tab, choose how availability should be managed.
Availability per service
Use this when the service has one shared schedule. Best for solo providers or when any staff member can cover any booking.
Availability per teammate
Use this when multiple staff members have their own schedules. Customers can book with a specific teammate or let the app assign one automatically.
When this mode is selected:
- A list of teammates appears
- Select the teammates who offer this service
- The calendar will use each teammateβs individual availability
π‘ Teammate availability is set on the Team page. See Working with Team in Appointment Bookings for details.
π οΈ Step 3 β Set Your Weekly Hours
By default, availability is set as a weekly recurring schedule.
- Toggle each day ON or OFF
- Set the start and end times for each active day
- To add another interval on the same day β for example, a morning and afternoon shift β click the plus icon
- To copy one dayβs hours to other days, click the duplicate icon and select the target days
βΉοΈ Intervals cannot overlap. The start time must be earlier than the end time.
π οΈ Step 4 β Add Date-Specific Hours
If your hours change for a season, holiday period, or special event, switch to date-range availability.
- Click or select specific dates
- Click Add Availability
- In the modal, select the date or date range
- Add one or more time intervals
- Click Apply
You can add multiple date ranges. To edit or remove a range, use the Edit or Delete buttons on the card.
When youβre done, click Back to weekdays availability to return to the weekly schedule.
π οΈ Step 5 β Configure Time Rules
These settings control how far in advance customers can book and how soon before a slot they can still book.
Timezone
The service timezone is set in the General tab. Customers see slots converted to their local time unless you lock the timezone.
Minimum scheduling notice
This prevents last-minute bookings. For example, if you set it to 24 hours, a customer cannot book a slot that starts less than 24 hours from now.
Look ahead
This controls how far into the future customers can book. Choose from a few days up to one year, or Indefinitely.
βΉοΈ Look ahead is not available for bundle bookings. Bundle calendars show all available dates in the current month.
π οΈ Step 6 β Configure Slot Behavior
The rest of the Availability tab changes depending on your booking type.
Regular bookings
Youβll see:
- Meeting duration β how long each appointment lasts
- Booking interval β how often slots appear on the calendar
- Buffer time β padding automatically added between bookings
- Break times β recurring blocked windows such as lunch
- Show availability by time of day β groups slots into Morning, Afternoon, and Evening
Multiday bookings
Youβll see:
- Minimum / maximum bookable days β shortest and longest stays allowed
- Available hours β the time window that defines each day of the stay
The following are hidden because multiday bookings use full days, not time slots:
- Meeting duration
- Booking interval
- Buffer time
- Break times
- Booking limit per timeslot
Bundle bookings
Youβll see:
- Slot selection type:
- Fixed β customer must select an exact number of slots
- Range β customer can select between a minimum and maximum number of slots
- Minimum / maximum number of slots
- Meeting duration, booking interval, buffer time, and break times
- Booking limit per timeslot
The following are not available for bundles:
- Look ahead
- Booking limit per day
- Waitlist
For full details on multiday and bundle availability, see How to create a Multiday Appointment Booking and How to create a Bundle Appointment Booking.
π οΈ Step 7 β Add Break Times and Blocked Dates
Break times
Break times remove slots from every day. Use them for lunch, clean-up time, or any recurring pause.
- Click Add a break time
- Choose the days it applies to
- Set the start and end times
Blocked dates
Blocked dates remove full days from booking. Use them for holidays, vacations, or days off.
- Click Add blocked date
- Select the date or date range
β οΈ Break times and blocked dates work together. A blocked date overrides any availability set for that day.
π οΈ Step 8 β Set Booking Limits
Booking limits help you control capacity.
Booking limit per day
Set the maximum number of bookings accepted for this service in a single day. Not available for bundle bookings.
Booking limit per timeslot
Set how many customers can book the same time slot. Available for regular and bundle bookings.
Global booking limits
If you enable Settings β General β Booking limits, the global daily limit can override service-level limits. This is useful when you want a store-wide cap across all services.
π‘ If waitlist is enabled, customers may be able to join a waitlist when a slot or day is fully booked. See How to Configure Waitlist for Appointment Bookings.
π οΈ Step 9 β Save and Test on Your Storefront
- Click Save in the service editor
- Visit the product page on your storefront
- Click the Book Now button
- Check that the calendar shows the correct dates and times
If a date you expected is missing, double-check:
- The day is toggled ON
- The time interval is correct
- No break time or blocked date covers that period
- The booking type-specific settings are filled in
β οΈ Important Notes & Troubleshooting
- Start time must be before end time. The service will not save if any interval is backwards.
- Break times must start before they end. The same validation rule applies.
- Multiday services cannot share teammate availability with regular or bundle services. Create separate availability groups for multiday services in teammate mode.
- No dates showing? Check that the app embed is enabled, the service is active, a product is connected, and availability is actually saved.
- Teammate mode shows no slots? Make sure teammates are assigned to the service and have their own availability set.
- Changes not reflecting? Save the service and refresh the storefront page.

β Final Result
After completing these steps:
- Your service has working hours configured
- Breaks and holidays are blocked
- Booking limits match your capacity
- The storefront calendar shows available slots correctly
- Customers can book only the dates and times you allow
