🎥 How to integrate Appointment Bookings App with Zoom

Want every booking to automatically include a unique Zoom meeting link? With the Zoom integration, Hoppy Appointments can create a fresh Zoom meeting for each customer booking and share the join link in their confirmation email and calendar invite.

This saves you from manually creating meetings and copying links — everything happens behind the scenes once it is set up ✨

⚠️ Before You Begin

Before connecting Zoom, make sure you have:

  • A Zoom account with permission to authorize third-party apps
  • The Hoppy Appointments app installed on your Shopify store
  • Admin access inside the Hoppy Appointments app

💡 The Zoom connection is tied to a team member, usually the store admin or the person who will host the meetings. Make sure you are connecting the right Zoom account.

🛠️ Step 1 — Connect Zoom to Your Team

  1. Open the Hoppy Appointments app
  2. Go to Team in the navigation
  3. Select the team member who will host the Zoom meetings
  4. On the General Settings tab, scroll to the Zoom integration card
  5. Click Connect Zoom
  6. Read the prompt and click Connect again
  7. You will be redirected to Zoom to sign in and authorize the app
  8. Once authorized, you are returned to the team member page

You’ll see a success message and a Connected badge next to Zoom.

🛠️ Step 2 — Verify the Connection

After connecting:

  • The Zoom integration card shows Connected
  • The connected email is displayed on the card
  • If needed, you can disconnect Zoom anytime by clicking Disconnect Zoom

⚠️ Only team members with a connected Zoom account can automatically generate meeting links. If a service uses Availability per teammate, make sure the assigned teammate also has Zoom connected.

🛠️ Step 3 — Enable Zoom for a Service

Now tell the service to use Zoom as the meeting location.

  1. Go to Services and open the service you want to use with Zoom
  2. In the General tab, find the Meeting location card
  3. From the dropdown, select Zoom
  4. Save the service

If Zoom is connected, the link field is hidden because the app will generate the meeting automatically. If Zoom is not connected, a field appears where you can paste a manual Zoom link instead.

🛠️ Step 4 — Save and Test

  1. Click Save on the service page
  2. Preview the booking widget on your storefront
  3. Complete a test booking
  4. Check the confirmation email — it should contain the Zoom join link
  5. Check the booking details inside the app — the meeting location should show the Zoom join URL

⚠️ Important Notes

  • One Zoom account per team member. The integration is connected at the team member level, not the store level.
  • Auto-generation only works when Zoom is connected. If Zoom is selected but not connected, the customer sees whatever manual link you paste, or no link at all.
  • A new meeting is created for each booking. Every confirmed booking gets its own unique Zoom meeting link.
  • The host is the connected team member. The Zoom meeting is created under the connected Zoom account.
  • Disconnect anytime. You can remove the Zoom connection from the team member detail page. Existing bookings keep their original links; new bookings will stop generating Zoom meetings.
  • Meeting links appear in emails and calendar events. The generated join URL is shared with customers automatically.

🐞 Troubleshooting

Connect Zoom button does nothing

Make sure your browser allows pop-ups or redirects from the Shopify admin. The Zoom OAuth flow needs to open Zoom’s authorization page.

Zoom shows as Not connected after authorizing

Try refreshing the team member page. If it still shows as not connected, disconnect and reconnect Zoom.

No Zoom option in the Meeting location dropdown

The Zoom option is always available in the dropdown. If you do not see it, make sure you are on the General tab of a service and the page has fully loaded.

Check that:

  • Zoom is connected for the team member who is the assigned organizer
  • The service Meeting location is set to Zoom
  • The booking was confirmed successfully

If your service uses Availability per teammate, the assigned teammate must have Zoom connected.

This happens when Zoom is selected as the meeting location but no Zoom account is connected. Either connect Zoom in Team settings or paste a manual link into the field that appears.

I want to stop using Zoom for one service

Open the service, change the Meeting location to something else (like None, Phone call, or Custom), and save.

🎉 Final Result

Once configured:

✅ Zoom is connected to the right team member ✅ The service uses Zoom as its meeting location ✅ Each confirmed booking creates a unique Zoom meeting ✅ Customers receive the Zoom join link automatically ✅ You no longer need to create meetings manually
