⚙️ Currency Converter – Advanced Settings

The Advanced tab gives you deeper control over how the Currency Converter behaves across your storefront.

These settings are designed for merchants who want more control over price display, theme compatibility, custom styling, and widget placement.

Whether you're adjusting rounding rules, fixing price detection issues, or manually positioning the converter, the Advanced tab provides the tools needed to fine-tune the experience.

⚠️ Before You Begin

To access Advanced Settings:

→ Open Hoppy Currency Converter

→ Complete the onboarding process

→ Open the Advanced tab from the left navigation menu

💡 Some settings in this section are intended for advanced users or developers. If you're unsure about a setting, it's perfectly fine to leave it at its default value.

💰 Advanced Price Rounding

Price rounding controls how converted prices are displayed on your storefront.

Exchange rates often generate uneven values, and rounding helps create cleaner, more consistent pricing.

🔢 Round to Decimal

  • What it does: Rounds converted prices to a specific decimal value.
  • Additional Setting: Rounding Decimal (0 – 0.99)
  • Example: €23.47 → €22.99

💡 Ideal for stores that prefer pricing patterns such as .99 or .95.

✂️ Remove Decimal

  • What it does: Removes decimal places entirely.
  • Example: €23.47 → €23

This creates a cleaner appearance and works well for currencies where decimals are rarely used.

9️⃣ Round to Nearest 0 or 9

  • What it does: Applies psychological pricing rules.
  • Behavior:
    • Decimal below 5 → rounds to 0
    • Decimal 5 or above → rounds to 9

Examples

  • $9.49 → $9.00
  • $9.50 → $9.90
  • $12.34 → $12.00
  • $12.56 → $12.90

🎯 None

  • What it does: Displays the exact converted exchange-rate value.
  • Example: €23.47 → €23.47

This is the default behavior.

🛠️ Expert Settings

These settings provide additional technical controls for advanced customization and storefront compatibility.

🎨 Custom CSS

  • What it does: Allows you to apply custom styling to the Currency Converter widget.
  • Use Case: Match the widget perfectly with your storefront branding.

Available CSS Classes

  • .futureblink-currency-desktop
  • .futureblink-currency-mobile

⚠️ Incorrect CSS may affect the widget's appearance or visibility.

💡 If styles are not being applied, try adding !important to each declaration.

🔍 Custom Price Selectors

  • What it does: Allows the converter to detect prices using custom theme selectors.
  • Format: Comma-separated selectors.

Example

.money, .price-item, .product-price, #custom-price

When to Use

  • Prices are not converting on certain pages
  • Your theme uses custom price classes
  • You're using a page builder with custom markup

💡 You can identify selectors using your browser's Inspect tool.

📐 z-Index (Desktop & Mobile)

  • What it does: Controls how the Currency Converter stacks relative to other floating elements.

Available Settings

  • z-Index (Desktop)
  • z-Index (Mobile)

Default Value

  • 2000

When to Adjust

  • Sticky headers overlap the converter
  • Chat widgets cover the converter
  • Other floating elements appear above it

💡 Higher numbers appear above lower numbers.

📍 Advanced Custom Position Placement

If the default placement options don't fit your storefront layout, you can manually place the Currency Converter or Cart Banner using HTML snippets.

💱 Currency Converter Box Placement

  • What it does: Places the Currency Converter in a custom location.

Code Snippet

<div class='futureblink-currency-box'></div>

Common Use Cases

  • Custom headers
  • Sidebars
  • Page builder sections
  • Custom storefront layouts

🛒 Cart Banner Placement

  • What it does: Places the cart notification banner in a custom location.

Code Snippet

<div class='futureblink-currency-cart-notification'></div>

Common Use Cases

  • Above checkout buttons
  • Inside custom cart drawers
  • Alternative cart page locations

⚠️ These snippets require editing Shopify theme files.

📝 Money Format Reference

The Advanced tab also displays your store's configured money formats.

These values are shown as read-only references and can be copied whenever needed.

Available Formats

HTML with Currency

  • Used when currency names or codes are displayed alongside prices.

HTML without Currency

  • Used when only price values are displayed.

💡 If prices stop converting unexpectedly, verify that your Shopify money formats still match these values.

⚠️ Important Notes

Price Rounding Only Changes Display

Rounding affects storefront appearance only.

Actual checkout pricing continues to use Shopify's currency and exchange-rate calculations.

Custom CSS Can Affect Visibility

Incorrect styling rules may hide or break the widget.

If issues occur, remove the custom CSS and save again.

Custom Price Selectors Work Alongside Defaults

Custom selectors are added in addition to the default selectors.

You do not need to re-enter default selectors unless replacing them intentionally.

Custom Placement Requires Theme Editing

Always create a backup or duplicate of your theme before modifying Liquid files.

💡 Common Use Cases

Psychological Pricing

  • Setting: Round to Decimal
  • Value: 0.99
  • Result: €23.47 → €22.99

Whole Number Pricing

  • Setting: Remove Decimal
  • Result: $1,245.60 → $1,246

Widget Overlapping Issues

  • Setting: z-Index = 4000
  • Result: Converter appears above other floating elements

Custom Theme Price Detection

  • Setting: Custom Price Selector
  • Value: .custom-product-price
  • Result: Converter detects and converts custom theme prices
