🚀 Location How to Set Time Slots and Order Limits

Time slots decide when customers can schedule their delivery or pickup ⏰

With the Time slots & limits tab you can offer simple date-only selection, exact times, or time ranges — and cap how many orders fit into each slot so your team never gets overwhelmed.

In this guide, you'll learn how to:

  • 🔘 Choose a slot type (date only, time, or time range)
  • 🗓️ Configure slots per day of the week
  • ⚡ Generate a full day of slots in one click
  • 🔢 Limit the number of orders per slot

📋 Before You Begin

  • You've created a location and enabled at least one fulfillment method (see Location: How to Configure Fulfillment Type)
  • You know your operating hours per day

⚙️ Step 1 — Open the Time Slots & Limits Tab

→ Go to Settings → Delivery & Pickup → Click Edit on your location → Open the Time slots & limits tab

You'll see a Local Delivery section and/or a Store Pickup section — one for each method you enabled on the Fulfillment type tab.

💡 If both methods are enabled and they share the same schedule, tick Same as Local Delivery in the Store Pickup section — Store Pickup will reuse your Local Delivery configuration and its own slot settings disappear.

🔘 Step 2 — Choose the Slot Type

In the Slots & Order Limits card, pick one of the three radio options:

  • Only Date → customers pick just a day — no times at all 🗓️
  • Date & Time → customers pick a day and a single time (e.g. 2:00 PM) ⏰
  • Date & Time Range → customers pick a day and a time window (e.g. 2:00–3:00 PM) ⏳

🗓️ Step 3 — Configure the Days

Same Slots for Every Day

Tick Use same time slots for all days to manage one schedule that applies to the whole week — one set of slots, zero repetition.

Leave it unticked to edit each day separately using the Mon – Sun tabs.

Only Date Mode

If you chose Only Date, each day shows a single option:

  • Enable for pickup or delivery → tick the days this location is open for orders. Done ✅

Date & Time / Date & Time Range Mode

For each day you can add slots manually:

→ Under Add time slots for [day], pick a time (or a start and end time for ranges) → Click Add

Each existing slot appears under Time slots, where you can adjust its time(s) with the dropdowns or remove it with the 🗑️ icon.

⚡ Step 4 — Generate Slots Automatically (Date & Time Range Only)

Don't add every slot by hand — the generator builds a whole day in one click.

→ Select Starts at (e.g. 9:00 AM) → Select Ends at (e.g. 5:00 PM) → Set the slot length with the − / + stepper — it moves in 15-minute steps (15, 30, 45, 60…) → Click Generate

A popup asks: Do you want the Generated time slots to

  • Add to existing slots → keeps your current slots and appends the new ones
  • Override existing slots → replaces the day's slots with the generated ones

Example

Starts at 9:00 AM, Ends at 12:00 PM, gap 60 → generates 9:00–10:00 AM, 10:00–11:00 AM, 11:00 AM–12:00 PM ⚡

🔢 Step 5 — Limit Orders per Slot (Optional)

Tick Limit number of orders per slot to prevent overbooking.

Once enabled, every slot gets its own number field (with the orders suffix):

  • Set 10 → up to 10 orders can be booked into that slot
  • Set it per slot, so busier times can have tighter caps than quiet ones

💡 Perfect for small kitchens or limited delivery vans — a few popular slots can't swallow your whole day.

💾 Final Step — Save

→ Click Save in the save bar at the top of the page.

🎉 Final Result

Once saved:

✅ Customers can pick exactly the kind of slot you chose — date, time, or time range ✅ Each day of the week can run its own schedule (or share one) ✅ Order limits keep every slot within your capacity ✅ Next up: control how far ahead slots appear — see Location: How to Set Prep Time and Availability
