πŸš€ Location How to Block Specific Dates and Times

Holidays, maintenance days, private events β€” sometimes a location simply can't take orders πŸš«πŸ“…

With Blackout Slots you can block whole date ranges, or just specific hours within them, so those times disappear from the date picker for customers.

In this guide, you'll learn how to:

  • πŸ—“οΈ Block a full date range
  • ⏰ Block only certain hours within a date range
  • πŸ—‘οΈ Manage and remove blackout entries

πŸ“‹ Before You Begin

  • You've created a location and set up its time slots (see Location: How to Set Time Slots and Order Limits)
  • You know the dates (and times, if any) this location will be unavailable

βš™οΈ Step 1 β€” Open the Block Dates & Times Tab

β†’ Go to Settings β†’ Delivery & Pickup β†’ Click Edit on your location β†’ Open the Block dates & times tab

You'll see a Local Delivery section and/or a Store Pickup section β€” one per enabled fulfillment method. Blackouts are set per method, so you could block delivery on a day while still allowing pickup.

πŸ’‘ If both methods should share the same blocked dates, tick Same as Local Delivery in the Store Pickup section.

πŸ”˜ Step 2 β€” Choose the Blackout Type

In the Blackout Slots card, pick one of the radio options:

  • Date range β†’ blocks entire days β€” nothing can be ordered for those dates πŸ—“οΈ
  • Date range with time slots β†’ blocks only specific hours inside the date range β€” the rest of the day stays bookable ⏰

Example

  • Date range Dec 24 – Dec 26 β†’ the location is closed for all three days
  • Date range Dec 31, time 6:00 PM – 11:59 PM β†’ New Year's Eve is bookable until 6 PM only

πŸ“… Step 3 β€” Add a Blackout Entry

β†’ Use the calendar to select a start and end date (click the first date, then the last) β†’ Click Add

Each entry appears as a card below with:

  • Start Date and End Date β†’ the range you picked
  • Start Time and End Time β†’ only shown when you selected Date range with time slots, so you can fine-tune the blocked hours (default: 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM)

Repeat for as many blackout periods as you need β€” holidays, stock-take days, renovations…

πŸ—‘οΈ Step 4 β€” Remove a Blackout Entry

Plans change β€” removing a block is easy:

β†’ Click Delete on the blackout entry you want to remove.

The dates become available to customers again as soon as you save.

πŸ’Ύ Final Step β€” Save

β†’ Click Save in the save bar at the top of the page.

⚠️ Blackouts only take effect after saving β€” unsaved changes won't hide any dates from customers.

πŸŽ‰ Final Result

Once saved:

βœ… Blocked dates no longer appear in the customer date picker βœ… Time-based blackouts keep the rest of the day bookable βœ… Each fulfillment method can have its own blackout schedule βœ… Need to block dates for specific products only? See Location: How to Set Product-Based Overrides
