🚀 Standard Shipping How to set Minimum order value and Generate Time Slots

Want to offer date and time slots for your regular shipping orders — and make sure they're only available on orders above a certain value? đŸ“Ļ

That's exactly what the Standard Shipping tab in Hoppy Delivery Dates is built for.

With this setup, you can:

  • 🚚 Turn Standard Shipping on or off with a single click
  • 💰 Require a minimum order value before customers can pick a shipping slot
  • đŸ—“ī¸ Enable time slots and generate a full day of slots in a few clicks

This guide walks you through the whole flow, step by step âš™ī¸

📋 Before You Begin

Before setting up Standard Shipping, make sure:

  • ✅ The Hoppy Delivery Dates app embed is enabled in your Shopify theme, so the picker appears on your storefront
  • ✅ The Show on cart toggle at the top of the Settings page is turned on, so customers see the widget on the cart page

â„šī¸ You don't need to create any locations for Standard Shipping — it works globally across your store, independent of your Delivery & Pickup locations.

âš™ī¸ Step 1 — Open the Standard Shipping Tab

Open the Hoppy Delivery Dates app, then:

→ Go to Settings

→ In the left sidebar, click Standard Shipping

You'll see the Standard Shipping card with an On / Off badge next to the heading, so you always know the current status at a glance.

🔛 Step 2 — Turn On Standard Shipping

→ Click the Turn on button on the right side of the card.

Once enabled:

  • The badge switches to On đŸŸĸ
  • Two new options appear inside the card:
    • Minimum order value for Standard Shipping (Optional)
    • Enable slots (Optional) checkbox
  • A Standard Shipping tab becomes available in the storefront widget for your customers

💡 To disable the feature later, just click Turn off — your settings are kept, but customers will no longer see the Standard Shipping tab.

💰 Step 3 — Set the Minimum Order Value (Optional)

In the Minimum order value for Standard Shipping (Optional) field, enter the minimum cart total required to use Standard Shipping slots.

  • Leave it empty → every customer can pick a shipping slot, no matter the order size
  • Enter a value (e.g. 150) → customers whose cart total is below this amount won't see the slot picker

Example

You set the minimum to 150:

  • Cart total $180 → ✅ the customer can pick a shipping date & time
  • Cart total $120 → ❌ the customer sees a minimum order message instead of the picker (default: "Order value is below the minimum required.")

This is useful when offering scheduled shipping only makes sense above a certain order size — for example, to cover your courier costs 🚚

đŸ—“ī¸ Step 4 — Enable Slots

→ Tick the Enable slots (Optional) checkbox.

This reveals the full slot configuration below the card:

  • Slots & Order Limits — slot types and your weekly time slots
  • Slot Availability Conditions — cut-off times and preparation days
  • Blackout Slots — dates you don't want to offer

â„šī¸ If you don't enable slots, the Standard Shipping tab still appears on the storefront, but instead of a picker customers simply see: "Standard shipping delivery will be calculated at checkout." — handy when you just want to offer shipping without a date promise.

đŸŽ›ī¸ Step 5 — Choose Your Slot Type

Inside the Slots & Order Limits card, pick one of the three slot type options:

  • Only Date → customers pick a shipping date, no time selection
  • Date & Time → customers pick a date and a single time (e.g. 2:00 PM)
  • Date & Time Range → customers pick a date and a time window (e.g. 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM)

💡 Date & Time Range is the default and the most common choice for shipping, since it gives you a flexible window instead of an exact minute.

⏱ī¸ Step 6 — Generate Time Slots Automatically

When Date & Time Range is selected, each day tab (Mon – Sun) shows a Generate time slots section — the fastest way to build your schedule.

For each day:

→ Starts at → select the time your first slot should begin (e.g. 9:00 AM)

→ Ends at → select the time your last slot should end (e.g. 5:00 PM)

→ Set the slot length with the − / + buttons (in 15-minute steps, e.g. 60 for 1-hour slots)

→ Click Generate

âš ī¸ The Generate button stays disabled until both Starts at and Ends at are selected.

A confirmation popup then asks: "Do you want the Generated time slots to"

  • Add to existing slots → keeps the slots you already have and appends the new ones
  • Override existing slots → replaces everything for that day with the newly generated slots

Example

Starts at 9:00 AM, Ends at 12:00 PM, gap 60 → generates:

  • 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM
  • 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
  • 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

✏ī¸ Step 7 — Fine-Tune Slots Manually

Below the generator, the Time slots list shows every slot for the selected day:

  • Change any slot's start or end time using the dropdowns
  • Click the đŸ—‘ī¸ delete icon to remove a slot

To add a single slot by hand, use the Add time slots section:

→ Pick a start time (and an end time for Date & Time Range)

→ Click Add

Repeat for each weekday tab — or tick Use same time slots for all days to manage one shared schedule instead of seven separate ones.

💡 Want to cap how many orders fit into each slot? That's covered in Standard Shipping: How to Limit the Number of Orders per Slot.

💾 Step 8 — Save Your Changes

→ Click Save in the save bar at the bottom of the page.

Your Standard Shipping setup is now live on the storefront 🎉

🎉 Final Result

Once saved, your customers will see:

  • ✅ A Standard Shipping tab in the delivery date widget on the cart page
  • ✅ A minimum order check, if you configured one — below the limit, they see a message instead of the picker
  • ✅ A calendar with your available shipping dates
  • ✅ Your generated time slots (e.g. 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM) once they pick a date
  • ✅ Or, if slots are disabled, the note "Standard shipping delivery will be calculated at checkout."
